Writing an article about the rise in popularity of MMA, need a national source   [View Full Version]

Hey guys, I'm writing a piece about the rise of MMA and need a source with knowledge of the rise in popularity (preferably someone with statistical knowledge, not just "it's swallowing boxing!") Do any of you know someone who can speak to this? I've found stats online but I actually need to speak with someone with intimate knowledge of the business of MMA. Hopefully this request makes sense...

It's for a magazine at my college called Klipsun (http://klipsun.wwu.edu/).

It's specifically about MMA in my region, and the opportunities for amateur fighters and young professionals to fight in the pacific northwest. The sports popularity may have peaked, but there still seems to be an increase in small promotions and amateur MMA.

If its regional, you should probably hit some dudes from Team Quest, etc. Actually, I talk with Pat Healy sometimes on twitter and he'd be an awesome source. He's talkative online if you want to seek him out.

I don't know if MMA is on the rise. May not be on the decline but just a stand still.
Ufc on fox hasn't really worked out. They still have Years to grow though.
