Georges St. Pierre vs Nick Diaz in the works for UFC 158 in Montreal on March 16   [View Full Version]

Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz will likely finish their unfinished business at UFC 158, which is currently slated to take place on March 16, 2013, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. All that's required to make it official are signatures ... and good behavior.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White today (Dec. 12, 2012) confirmed that bout agreements have been fired off to Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz, but warned that the deal "isn't done yet" because signatures from both fighters are still outstanding.

I love the match-up but damn does it piss me off. Hendricks is the clear #1 contender, followed by RoryMac. Hendricks worked his ass off for his opportunity.

if this fight becomes official, I could very well buy tickets

It's a shame Hendricks is getting snubbed but atleast GSP is still fighting a top guy instead of Chael Sonnen. I'm going to start saving my toonies for tix aswell

I'm right there with you. Hendricks is coming off several wins over top guys. I'd have to go back and double check, but I believe his last 3 fights are Kampmann, Koscheck and Fitch. and he beat 2 of the 3 by KO in under a minute. I don't see how that doesn't equate to a title shot.
I still love this match up as a fight fan, but in regards to what is fair and what has been earned, Hendricks should be the guy fighting GSP right now.

win/win considering the situation. hendricks doesnt have to sit out long if he waits for his title shot & it let's us see a damn good fight in the near future.

GSP headlining and MacDonald in the comain event is probably what the UFC will strive for when creating Canadian cards from now on.

alienkiller89 » Posted 2/3/09 4:31:00PM

this pisses me off for three reasons... 1) hendricks gets screwed over after knocking out fitch and kampmann each within a minute and beating koscheck in between those wins as well, 2) hendricks is getting bypassed by a guy who just lost his chance to fight for the title AND got suspended, and 3) is the UFC even capable of putting GSP in a fight outside of fucking canada?! the place nearly sells out anyway regardless of who's fighting on the card because they're great fans and aren't spoiled brats who boo at every fight that's not a rock 'em sock 'em robots fight like in the states.

Risky business putting Nick Diaz in the main event of anything in my opinion. I know if he shows up he will fight hard, but the hard part is getting him to show up.

I feel bad for Hendricks. It's not often you knock out 2 top 5-7 guys within a minute and not get a title shot. His resume is much better at this point. Who could they possibly have him fight in the mean time that wouldn't be a big step down? He's probably going to sit around and wait. I know he's said he wants to do that several times but I think it would be much better if they gave Hendricks the first shot at the title and had Diaz get a win under his belt first.

I don't think Diaz has much of a chance against GSP, speaking honestly. I like Diaz but I don't see it happening. Especially with how close the Condit fight was and how Nate got handled by Bendo, which is a similar match up imo.

I feel the same about Nick's chances. The Diaz brothers have traditionally poor TDD, and that doesn't bode well for Nick in this one. I think this fight is going to be a WW Bendo vs Nate minus the whole toothpick debacle.

Whenever Diaz fucks this up again...the Bigg Rigg will be there to step in for his much deserved "lick at the brass ring"....WAR JOHNY!!!!!

PaulieG » Posted 12/15/12 8:34:00PM

GSP is going to get the takedown all day long! Just like bendo vs nate!
