Posted 6/23/07 7:57:00PM With the news that current UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz will be on the shelf for another 6-9 months due to a second ACL surgery, UFC President Dana White has confirmed that interim champ Renan Barao (29-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) will now defend his belt against Michael McDonald (19-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) in early 2013. link |

Posted 9/30/09 9:33:00PM it was 2 to 2 when i voted, looks like its expected to be close right now. i do think McD is super dangerous but i'll still pick barao. i would love to see McD take that title and reck the barao hype. so far barao has lived up to the hype, but im not convinced he's the very best in the world yet. to bad dominicks out for a such a long time. |

He's the interim champion after some very impressive wins. We can safely assume it's no longer hype.

Posted 6/21/07 4:27:00PM Winner might have to defend the belt again before they get Cruz. |

Posted 4/27/12 11:03:00AM This fight gives me the same feeling Bowles/Torres did. The better technician is going to get blitzed and KOed. |

Posted 3/10/11 4:01:00PM IM taking MacDonald and more than likely Barao grabs the fence to avoid the takedown...more than once.. |

Posted 10/13/10 10:40:00PM Sick fight! Either one of these guys could finish the other. I'll ride or die on that McDonald hype train.

Good point, but for no reason whatsoever I suspect McDonald kicks Barao in the nuts repeatedly and then knees him in the back of the head while he's on the ground en route to a DQ loss. |
