Vitor Belfort's HOF Potential   [View Full Version]
Franklinfan47 » Posted 5/20/07 4:03:00PM

Vitor Belfort:

-13 to 1 underdog.
-Fighting above his natural weight in a division he hasnt fought in for like 5 years or something.
-Against a fighter many consider p4p best.
-On 3 week's notice.
-Comes the closest to beating the champ out of any LHW, including Machida, Rampage, Shogun, Bader, etc. Ridiculously close to beating him.
-Held the LHW title and won early UFC tournaments. Fought in title matches many times at 205 and once at 185 against greats like Anderson Silva, Randy Couture, and now Bones Jones.

So, is Vitor a future HOFer? IMO yes.

Discuss.

I picked "Already is" but my opinion may be biased since he's my favorite fighter. If he wasn't my favorite I probably would have picked "lets see how the rest of his career turns out" He's fought the best in a fee eras but hasn't beat all of them. Although his KO of Wanderlei is epic

Didn't vote because it's hard to tell. It's a shame what happened to his sister because that destroyed Vitor mentally and was never the same.

WAR VITOR

Would like to see him fight Bisping at 185 now.

ghandikush » Posted 7/12/11 3:30:00PM

The UFC rides his nuts hard, already is, as for should he be to me, absolutely, but a lot of fighters should be..... thats right Frank Shamrock

Chael_Sonnen » Posted 5/25/10 12:40:00PM

****NO****

Beating bums like Marvin Eastman and a poor fella with half of his chest missing and some biker stripper bar bouncer in Tank Abbott doesn't equate to the Hall of Chael.

Scratching Randy's eye to "WIN" the title should have an asterisk next to it.

Vitor is a "glorified" Michael Bisping....win some top 10's and get back to YOURS TRULY.

I think he will go eventually in
I do think next year Penn will be inducted
Forrest is a wild card

For TUF, not for barely decisioning Rampage and getting knocked out next fight.

HoF seems to be all about star power, so yes, Vitor gets in. The UFC wants big names in its HoF.

Vitor Belfort is already a HOF in my eyes

Poor_Franklin » Posted 6/7/11 4:52:00AM

HOF definitely .... almost everyone in the HOF has a can on their win list, lost a big fight they would have won back in the day and performed less than awesome after their prime was up. Dude has a title and won a tourny....not to mention has been fighting longer than half of the UFC fans have been alive.

ThaAxeMurderer7 » Posted 1/16/08 9:55:00PM

The answer is absolutely. His record isn't outstanding in the UFC (10-6 I believe) but he IS a former champion with wins over Wanderlei Silva, Randy Couture, and Rich Franklin. He also had epic battles with Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. I'm not even a big fan of Vitor but If Shamrock with a UFC record 6-6 with 2 draws is in the fuckin HOF, Vitor deserves it as well.

Personally I think Vitor is an all time "good" and not an all time great.

I think he could get in depending on the rest of his career but I'm not sure he's earned it yet.

His accomplishments include:

Winning a tournament championship.
Winning the LHW title and not defending it (I also agree with Chael that this needs an * next to it.)

Not enough IMO and he's lost too many of his big fights.
