UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones told ESPN.com on Friday that he does not want to have a rematch with Lyoto Machida.

"I don't want to fight Lyoto Machida," Jones said. "He was my lowest pay-per-view draw of last year.

"No one wants to see me fight Lyoto Machida. I don't want to fight Lyoto again. Lyoto is high risk and low reward.

"He's a tough fighter, but no one wants to buy that fight.

"Between (Mauricio) Shogun (Rua), (Quinton) Rampage (Jackson) and Rashad (Evans), Lyoto was my lowest draw. Why would I want to fight someone where it's a lose-lose situation? "I won't make money on it. And he's a tricky fighter."

When asked if he will agree to fight Machida again if asked by UFC officials to do so, Jones was noncommittal.

"I don't even know," Jones said. "I don't know how to answer that right now."

Hey Jones, if they say you're fighting Machida, guess what, you're gonna fight Machida. Enough of this "he's my lowest ppv blah blah blah" Look, it doesn't matter. You're the Champ and Champions fight the #1 contenders. And on top of that, you just got busted for DUI so i'd play the game Zuffa wants you to play until that smoke has cleared

END RANT!!!!

You answered that very poorly, Jones. Making it seem like you only care about money.

I don't want to see those two fight because they just fought. Machida just fought Jones before Bader and before that only had a win over Couture to get the title shot.

But, for the love of god, let Hendo beat Jones.

Jon Jones needs to learn to not open his mouth without his manager present. Ever.

For the good of the LHW division, i hope Hendo win September 1st.

Malki Kawa is not the greatest manager when it comes to the PR side. He is the same person that mishandled the DUI incident, called Chael Sonnen an idiot, called Ariel Helwani a dick head via Twitter, etc.

Jones should have answered the question with more sophistication. He is concerned about the rematch as a lose-lose with good reason; he probably has the same sort of deal Anderson Silva has, raking in percentages. "The fans will be turned off by the rematch; the pay-per-view numbers will reflect that" would be a better way to at least thinly hide your motives.

And then afterwards he should have offered the answer to a pay-per-view flatline:

im sure whoever the ufc puts infront of him he will fight.
The guy gets scrutinised for everything he says, what he says may come off as cocky or whatever but he's saying the truth.

Do what? I know you are good Jones but you are not fighting Machida, you are fighting Dan f'ing Henderson. One of the greatest fighters of all time. Absolutely not a man to look past. His statement leads me to believe he has lost focus, if that is true he might as well hand that belt over.

War Hendo!!! I've been rooting for that guy since I got into MMA why change now?

Things change Johnny Bones. People saw how close Machida was to beating you, you saw it too, and now you are scared it's his turn again - and you act like PPV has anything to do with your decision? Since when have you been so devoted to being a PPV draw? Stick to fighting. It's not your call anyway. This reeks of cowardice.

I just hope we get to see Jones/Machida II regardless of the outcome of the Hendo fight (please H-Bomb; land!)

Just because the first fight didn't sell well doesn't mean the second wont.

There is more to a card than the main event. The co-main event the first time around was Tito vs Little Nog, and the rest of the card was stacked with Canadians because for some reason the UFC feels every card outside the UFC needs homegrown fighters to promote. With a higher quality undercard and co-main event combined with the fact that Lyoto was the only person to make Jones look human so far, I think that rematch has potential to be a huge draw.

Besides as a Champion you shouldn't be able to decline fights, you fight whoever the UFC deems the #1 contender.

He would have come off FAR better had he said "Machida was my worst ppv Draw BUT Damn right ill fight him and ill beat him again".

Who else is in line for a title shot besides Lyoto? Shogun..well some of us can make that argument but Shogun is 2-1 since (2 wins -washed up Forrest and a 205'er who isn't even in top 10 lhw rankings) losing title and that 1 loss being an epic battle with Hendo. The young guys like Gustsaffson/Davis have some ways to go before stepping in cage w/ Jones for a shot at the title. Rashad needs to come back with a convincing win if he wants another crack at his old friend. I'd love to finally see Shogun vs Rashad!! Back to the Dragon, Machida's win over Bader was really convincing that he wants another shot at that title. And lets not forget Machida gave Bones a good fight, KO'd Couture, got robbed in Rampage fight..Idk I maybe a bit biased because I am a fan of Machida and Jones I just want to see a good title fight and to see more challenges thrown at Jon Jones because the man is that good. But like Jones said..Hendo comes first.

DrivenDavies15 » Posted 8/10/11 1:23:00AM

Hey man no one really wants to see you fight Machida again either but with some luck we'll be seeing Hendo/Lyoto in the near future

But if you want PPV buys why don't you fight Andy?

I say let Jones get some time off and fight the Shogun/Gustaffsson winner but unfortunately i'm not Joe Silva

hotrodttt » Posted 8/25/07 6:56:00PM

Nobody brings anything new to the table for Jones, maybe with a couple of victories over top competition then Texiera can challenge, but I just don't see it.

everything he says just gets broken down and analysed..all im sayin is give the dude a break.

Idk why UFC 140 was lowest purchased Pay-Per-View that card was stacked.

And this all sounds so familiar, Bones is following Anderson's footsteps. But the thing is the UFC is the matchmaker and they'll make the fight happen, so who cares if Bones doesn't want it. It's not up to him to make the call, it's up to the UFC.

What's Bones going to? Call up Donald Trump to restart Affliction?
