Ronda Rousey is the One Girl Dana White Could See Fighting in the UFC   [View Full Version]

UFC president Dana White has long said that the women’s side of mixed martial arts is still lagging too far behind to include women’s weight classes in the UFC Octagon.

He’s still of that same mind, although his stance has softened quite a bit with the emergence of Strikeforce women’s bantamweight Ronda Rousey.

There’s no question that Rousey has both the ability to dominate in the cage and the personality that translates such talent into star power outside of the cage. That’s something White is keenly aware of.

How could she fight if she is the only girl in the UFC?

Shawn91111 » Posted 9/21/07 2:56:00AM

Right as soon as Strikeforce crumbles and the UFC realises there is enough talent to support at least two divisions it will make it onto a Fox Main event.

If it there were to be a main event involving females it would have to have another big name fight involving males. I just can't see girls bringing in all that much numbers compared to males consistently

I can't stand her personality. Calling out anybody and everybody is just foolish. Then to say Kardashian is a poor role model because of the image she portrays just to turn around and do a nude photoshoot and talk about Olympic condoms. Class A hypocrisy. Rousey and Seagal must be having a competition to see who can make the most absurd comments.

That being said I would love to see Rousey vs Cyborg.

she has a very aggressive personality, i see why dana likes her, they got a lot in common. personally, i think cyborg is the only female fighter to have proved shes got the talent for the ufc aside from the roids. by no means am i saying ronda isnt talented, i just think shes got a lot to prove still.

Surely you're familiar with the Great Olympic Condom Shortage of '08.

On a site note, what wrong with talking about condoms?

If her go to move was a triangle instead of an armbar the entire men's bantamweight division would be pleading for that fight and happily losing it.

I hear she has a pretty wicked 5-on-1.

women's mma will never go that far. great for her though, cause she has found a way to make a name for her self and make so $$$. just look at all the probelms other professional women's leagues have and they have been around way longer and have more depth; but are still allying. Male sports are just more entertaining, pure and simple. hey I'm all for looking at women but not in sports; they just can't do the say feats as males that keep ppl astonished.

In most cases I agree Women's sports don't hold my interest as well, but there are exceptions mostly when it comes to the Olympics though.

For instance I found the Women's soccer tournament at this past Olympics far more entertaining than the Mens. (this may have to do with the fact that the men's tournament is essentially an under 23 tournament)

Women's professional sports haven't found much of a footing in North America but they haven't exactly been around long, (To my knowledge) the WNBA has only been around since 1997 and is the oldest women's professional sports league operating on the Continent. The problem I see is that they aren't growing much either.

Because surely he can't be saying that Ronda Rousey is the only girl with enough talent to represent the UFC.
