Posted 3/24/07 5:29:00PM Internal tensions in Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua’s camp have caused a rift between him and his older brother Murilo ‘Ninja’. Since his first days of competition, Ninja has always been in the corner when Shogun fights but he was absent for the weekend’s bout against Brandon Vera, which headlined UFC on FOX 4. The reason is Andrea Dida, Shogun’s head coach. Ninja does not like him and does not agree with his training methods, nor the way that he coaches. “Guys, I was not with Mauricio in this fight because I have a problem with Dida. I do not agree with the way he corners and drills him,” he wrote on Twitter at the weekend, responding to queries about his absence... Full Story |

Posted 10/2/08 10:22:00AM So they realize that he has a conditioning problem now? That's good. You know the first step of any recovery program is always admitting you've got a problem, and it's nice to see that Shogun and his manager are upset with his constantly gassing in fights. Ninja may be on to something here. I think Shogun needs a change of scenery and a new camp to refocus him and get him a conditioning program that will work for him. He also needs to find a way to make his knees NOT explode like pretty much anything in a Michael Bay movie between now and his next fight. His constantly being sidelined with injuries certainly doesn't help his conditioning at all. |

prolly cuz Ninja was always the smaller and lesser fighter..lol..but good thing big brother is stepping up and saying something..lately Shogun has been coming into fights with flab on his side and not in shape..get him out of there and back with Rafael Cordeiro, who also stated that if Shogun was to train with him, he would not cut him any slack..as where Shogun trains with Dida and gets away with being lazy and not focus..Rafael Cordeiro would work his ass back to shape..and i wouldnt be listening to Dida, who imo, is a decent striker, not the greatest nor has he impress me in k1 or mma..get back to Rafael Cordeir SHOGUN! or watch ur career crash down.. |
