Posted 12/17/07 8:56:00PM "He wants to get into Anderson Silva's head and he did it. That's what he wants, because when you fight with emotion, you don't fight smart. The crowd, they love it. (Silva) he's going to go crazy but he can make a mistake if you do that. It's a big mistake. You have to go back to the reason he's a champion. And the reason he's a champion is because he fights smart, he's skilled. More skilled than the other guys ... He brings the fight where he is the best. He doesn't go crazy. That's what Chael Sonnen wants from him." Link _______________________________________ |

Posted 6/29/07 12:28:00PM I wont really say anderson is a smart fighter, he is just so good at striking that no one could close enough to engage without getting KOed. the crazy anderson is the one that finished people. |

Posted 7/4/07 4:41:00AM Of course he did but who's to say he wasn't in it 3 months ago? 7 months ago? A year ago? And just because he is doesn't mean he's gonna lose and it doesn't mean that's why he could win. People get on other peoples nerves. And from what it looks like to me Anderson has been in Chael's head since before their 1st fight and even more so since he got tapped. If Anderson was in Chael's mouth anymore, Chael's pimp would be coming at Anderson for short changing _______________________________________ |

Posted 1/24/07 7:00:00PM I'm so ready for this fight. This has got to be the MOST talked about fight on the PG for the longest time. I'm borderline tired of it. If Chael wins I anticipate mayhem If Anderson wins I still expect mayhem

Posted 1/18/12 9:29:00PM Chael Sonnen's greatest claim to fame, is losing to a guy he does not respect. After this weekend, his greatest claim to fame will be losing twice to a guy he does not respect. Will Chael give up MMA and go back to money-laundering? Or will he try to claw his way back through the ranks, but fail and get triangled by a newcomer in his first UFC fight. Or perhaps he will admit defeat, admit Anderson is the better man, and bow out, go back to Oregon and work in his pizza parlor. That would be ideal for me, I have no interest in watching his boring style of fighting. |

Posted 7/4/07 4:41:00AMIt is pretty much the same style as Fitch, the one everyone says is boring. I'll admit, it is pretty blah _______________________________________ |

Posted 6/1/08 3:18:00PM Fitch and Sonnen fight NOTHING alike. Fitch and Sonnen's ground and pound are on two different levels. I realize that Chael might not hit as hard as others, but that doesn't not mean his fists aren't connecting with his opponents' faces more often than not. Fitch rarely postures up and looks to advance position. The reason Chael is submitted so frequently is because he postures up to throw down elbows and punches, but then steadies himself with his hands on the mat. Easy triangle. Sonnen might not have great power, but I will take his brand of wrestling over Fitch's any day of the week. |

this x 1000Maybe Sonnen should literally lay on top of Silva in order to avoid triangles...people bitch about lnp and non posturing for gnp and then slam Sonnen for his sub d because he postures up for his ground attack. _______________________________________ |

Posted 7/4/07 4:41:00AMNothing alike at all? What i see is both fighters want that fight on the ground so they can grind on you and wear you down. That is were their styles are the same. I don't see Sonnen going for the finish any more then i see Fitch. 6 of Sonnens last 7 wins have come by UD while Fitch's last 7 wins have been by UD. So when i say their styles is pretty much the same, what i MEANT and SHOULD have said was the M.O. is the same. My Bad

Posted 4/7/11 11:08:00PM Yeah...and supposedly Rashad was in Jon Jones' head going into their title fight. How'd that work out for Rashad? ![]() If you ask me, I think Sonnen was more in Silva's head for the last fight more-so than this one. To the extent that Anderson went through hell to preserve the authenticity of having a Nogueira black belt. I think this time around Silva is in Sonnen's head. Sonnen now knows that Silva can take all of his best shots for 5 rounds and still beat him. But he isn't even going to come close to that this time around. |

I still don't think that counting on another fighter to make a mistake, no matter how many times they've made it in the past, is the best way to approach something. Anderson NEEDED Chael to make a mistake. Chael didn't need to do anything more than he already was. Odds favor Sonnen. |
