Bellator 73 Headlined by Curran vs. Pitbull, Features Two Tournament Finals   [View Full Version]
prophecy033 » Posted 7/4/07 4:41:00AM

The third installment of Bellator’s 2012 Summer Series, which will take place August 24 at Harrah’s Tunica Hotel and Casino in Mississippi, looks to be a stacked card as it delivers a Bellator Featherweight Title bout, the Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament Final and the 2012 Summer Series Light Heavyweight Tournament Final.

Anchoring Bellator 73 will be Bellator Featherweight Champion Pat Curran taking on Season 4 Tournament Champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire. Curran, a consensus top featherweight, will be making his first title defense after trouncing Joe Warren in March, a bout that saw the Illinois native take the title with one of the most violent TKO finishes in recent memory. His opponent, “Pitbull” has been sidelined by injury for over year, having not competed since defeating Daniel Straus to become the season 4 Featherweight Tournament Champion.

The time for a UFC hostile take over is now....with Curren, Pitbull broes, Askren, Chandler etc....being fighters that would have similar success in the UFC that that the top WEC fighters have had when that was bought out. That and some SF stragglers, Kennedy, Rockhold, Barnet, Cormier, Masvidal, Thompson and Melendez. Lastly about five internationals, mainly Aoki and Crusher Kawajiri would complete the UFC.

Is that really what MMA needs? I get the fact that we want them all to fight against the best of the best in the UFC but i like having all these guys fighting on the same weekend but not all in one organization. Plus, all these guys under one banner means they fight that much less even with more UFC events

No, you are totally correct in the fact that we get to see more fights this way....I am just selfish and want the match ups I dream of to materialize:
Maynard vs Melendez
Crusher vs Faber
Patricio vs Renan
Barnett vs Overeem
Kennedy vs Stann
Curran vs Aldo
Rockhold vs Bisping
You get my drift as this can be arranged a million of ways.
