Posted 4/8/07 11:45:00AM When you're as big and influential as the UFC, simple desire often is the only thing needed to get what you want. So, take note Bellator fans; the UFC clearly wants two of its rival organization's biggest stars: ex-lightweight champ Eddie Alavarez (23-3 MMA, 7-1 BFC) and current middleweight titleholder Hector Lombard (31-2-1 MMA, 8-0 BFC). UFC president Dana White suggested the UFC soon will make a play to sign both Bellator veterans. Both fighters have been with Bellator since its inception in 2009. But as their contracts wind down and Alvarez and Lombard have the option to flirt with other suitors, the lure of the UFC is going to be strong. Alvarez, who lost his title to Michael Chandler in November, upped his value on Friday by avenging an earlier defeat and making quick work of submission specialist Shinya Aoki in Bellator 66's headliner. After the fight, Alvarez said Bellator CEO and Chairman Bjorn Rebney needed to "show me the money" in a new contract. The Bellator boss told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Alvarez is "an absolute class act" who's been "a pleasuring work with." So will Rebney, in fact, show him the money? "I don't think he's left me with a lot of choice, do you?" Rebney said. LINK _______________________________________ |

Posted 9/24/10 8:39:00PM Hope Dana can at least snag Alvarez. He's wasted potential in Bellator. |

Posted 8/14/11 9:31:00PM Would like to at least see Zuffa, even if it's only a one fight deal, sign him to fight Melendez in Strikeforce, Two men enter, one man goes UFC!! |

Posted 7/4/07 4:41:00AM It would be nice to have both in the UFC but I'm not sure if Bellator is gonna let both go. If I had to choose which, I'd pick Alvarez but Lombard would be an exciting addition to the 185 division _______________________________________ |

Posted 9/7/07 9:27:00PM Alvarez and Lombard obviously need to get in the UFC as it is the top of the heap but to be honest....I think the UFC fighters will chew them up and spit them out. |

Um No, Alvarez just won his last fight, this past Friday against Aoki, 1st rd TKO. People are hung up on him, because he is the top LW fighter not in the UFC besides Melendez. Not saying he would come to the UFC and run through the division, but he would have some exciting match ups for him waiting. |

Okay, I'll give you that Chandler is ahead of Alvarez, rankings wise, But all the hype is still around Alvarez coming to the UFC, not Chandler. What does that tell you?? You sound more like an Alvarez hater, so no need in trying to make you understand why people want to see Alvarez come to the UFC. |
