Fedor Emelianenko: I have to go to the UFC to face the strongest opponents   [View Full Version]

Stop me if you've heard this one before.

Former Strikeforce heavyweight attraction and longtime PRIDE FC champion Fedor Emelianenko is still yapping about a return to the United States, under the UFC banner, no less, despite persistent rumors from the M-1 camp that he's slated to compete later this year in Monaco.

"The Last Emperor" snapped a three-fight losing skid with a unanimous decision win over Jeff Monson last November, before making it two in a row with a first round knockout finish of judo expert Satoshi Ishii in the DREAM: "Genki Desu Ka Omisoka" year-end MMA extravaganza in Japan.

But was it good enough to warrant an appearance inside the Octagon?

It's almost too little, too late at this point. I want him in the UFC just to see him IN the UFC

Maybe he finally clued in to the fact that there is nothing but the abyss of career obscurity for him outside the UFC. Too bad he didn't realize this while he still had some leverage at the negotiating table.

No Shit, it would have been nice to see him and Randy go at it before Randy had to collect his AARP

There's always room for him on the Facebook prelims.

Who cares If he loses. It's fedor

All its gonna take is one UFC win and everyone will hop back on the bandwagon.

bandwagoners & warwagoners are different. I feel many of Fedor's warwagon fans get lumped into the bandwagon category too often.

FYI
if Arlovski makes a comeback, I wont be riding the bandwagon. i'll be riding in the WARWAGON!

If I were Dana I'd tell him to fuck right off. They tried to sign him when he was good. Now he's on the decline and he wants in? Sorry Fedor, ya missed your chance, lost a few times, and now your win over Monson will not get ya back in the UFC.

While this is true, it doesnt make Warwagoners any more ignorant. Guaranteed if Sherk or Pulver got back to the UFC I'd be blazin up a storm on these forrums lol, but we're still no better than Leafs Fans.

First win of the season and they're planning the cup parade...

If he drops M-1 maybe? One can still dream right?

MuayThaiGeek13 » Posted 12/28/11 3:18:00PM

He can still have very exciting and competitive fights with any heavy weight in the business. I feel he's still top 10 and possess' the skill to regain top 5 status in just a few fights. His drive is what scares me.

He can become champion again, but does he care to? If he signs with the UFC he does. There's plenty of money else where if he just wants HMC type fights.

I don't think the UFC would do what they would need to do to profit from the deal and I don't think fedor will do what he would have to, to get into the UFC. M-1 is too close to negotiations and wants too much. Even his salary will be at the lowest the UFC could justify in accordance to how many Viewers he'll garner. And on top of that, Dana White will probably feed him to the wolves early. And that will further diminish his value as a draw. It's unlikely it gets past negotiations, and on top of that it's unlikely that the end result will be good for both, if not for either party.

Leaf fans are just plain annoying.

Fedor however is the shit. He won't win a title or be a dominant force in the UFC but he's already had his time. He's done some great things and if he manages a win streak of any sort you better believe I'll be screaming war Fedor.

I think you and everyone else have known this for a loooooooooooong time

finnish_line » Posted 8/16/07 8:54:00AM

Offer him $300,000 per fight but at Light Heavyweight only. Two fight deal.

Why not, really. But anything more than that is a waste.
