UFC On FX 2 Photo: Thiago Alves Gains Almost 30 Pounds A Few Hours After Weigh-In   [View Full Version]

Thiago Alves, has had problems with his weight in the past, missing the welterweight limit multiple times, and was even caught using banned diuretics a few years ago. 'The Pitbull' has since changed up his diet, and made weight properly on his more recent bouts, including tonight's bout against Martin Kampmann, where he officially weighed in at 170.5 lbs.

Mike Dolce, his nutritionist who has been helping him diet and cut weight better, had a few interesting tweets about Alves' cut. He posted a photo claiming that Alves, who has always been one of the larger guys in the division, has gained a whopping 27.1 lbs in just a few hours from the official weigh-in

Mentioned this last night in the camp forum. Now let's see if he can hang with Kampmann without draining his gas tank.

I think that's what's going to happen. 29-28 Kampmann.

Man, I had a hard time picking this one so I just stuck with my original thought of Alves rd2 ko/tko. Whenever I change last second it fucks me

* Alves' weight has been monitored by Mike Dolce, so hopefully he doesn't gas out

i have thought alves's gas tank was his weak point. i dont know what dolce's diet has done for him in his training but im willing to bet that kampmann will make him tired. i wonder what impact the weight cutting will have on the length of his career. thiago has already IMO had his best days in the ufc.

Well his gas tank held up fine, he just got caught being with bad fence positioning of the double leg. That is amazing if he actually did gain that much weight so fast. 30lbs in a full day is one thing, but in 3 hours?
