Mayhem: Dana White was right, I displayed the worst of everything   [View Full Version]
emfleek » Posted 11/18/07 4:54:00PM

As someone who goes to my website, you are well aware that I lost my recent
fight. I am very disappointed about it, but have used the past couple weeks to reflect on everything and have come to some conclusions.

Dana White was right. He made some disparaging comments about my performance, and I agree with him. I displayed the worst of everything that night in the octagon. I was tense in round one and I locked up after that. I didn’t perform to my potential, and I take full responsibility for it. That wasn’t a UFC caliber performance, and I’m not happy about it- I won’t, however, write a worthless diatribe on myself, because that is not constructive. I elect instead to take this misstep and make something positive out of it.

Here's to hoping he does a lot better next time out.

Sounds like a smart guy to me...but I don't know if it's genuine or if it's one of those cool and appropriate things to say.

Always a Mayhem fan, setbacks and all.

Now that's telling it like it is. I hope he gets another chance, not just another fight in the UFC, but another shot at Bisping. Time will tell, but being a cool guy with a good attitude gets you loyal fans.

I really don't think his performance was that poor, I just think he got a severe adrenaline dump, it happens sometimes no matter how good of shape you're in.

He won the first round and in the second he came out a completely different fighter, I don't think it had anything to do with him being in bad shape.

This.

Mayhem will look good in his next fight.

I agree...and I'd bet that he agrees too, but if he said it he'd probably be accused of making excuses. I like the route that he took where it leaves no room for anyone to accuse him of anything.

A much more appropriate fight for him than against Bisping.

I still think Mayhem won the first round hands down. It wasn't even until the end of the first Bisping was able to counter Millers overhands.
I think that though it seemed apparent Mayhem had a problem with his nerves,it was Bisping educated boxing that sealed the deal.

tcunningham » Posted 9/30/09 9:33:00PM

that was a very tough fight for mayhem, he was relatively unknown by most current ufc fans before TUF, then he walked straight into a fight with arguably a top 10 fighter with bisping. it looked to me like it was just to much for miller to take in. hopefully he gets another chance to prove himself. if he performs like he did in the bisping fight though, dana needs to cut him.

he has ok punching power
mask his take down attempts, so they are not telegraphed from miles away. I really like his personality and in fighting i like that he is aggressive and also like his tenacity,
but i would like to see him fight a bjj guy, or a wrestler. maybe tom lalwer, battle of the intros like I expected to have originally. while he learns some more mma skills.
he needs to get better cardio too.
