Posted 4/8/07 11:45:00AM Cung Le has other things going on in his life. He is a fighter first, of course. But he is also a successful actor that's growing more successful by the year. When he avenged his sole MMA loss to Scott Smith in June 2010 under the Strikeforce banner, he thought he might hang it up. But when Strikeforce was purchased by UFC parent company Zuffa LLC, his plans changed. "There was more of an opportunity for me to fight in the UFC than there had been," Le said today. As most fighters do, Le harbored a desire to one day fight in the octagon. But while he was under the Strikeforce banner, that wasn't possible. Under separate ownership, the promotions weren't exactly on friendly terms. Le instead became a huge star in the San Jose, Calif.-based promotion, which was led by Scott Coker. The two had worked together since 1998, when Strikeforce was a kickboxing promotion, and then when it segued into MMA in 2006. In four years of fighting MMA, Le fought on some of the most successful Strikeforce cards to date and became one of the biggest stars outside of the UFC. It was during his heyday with the promotion that his career exploded as a movie actor. Starring roles in mainstream flicks such as "Fighting," "Pandorum" and "Tekken" made him a hot commodity in Hollywood, and soon, acting gigs were overtaking those involving his fists. Le, though, said he is always a fighter. LINK _______________________________________ |

Posted 9/24/10 8:39:00PM Can't really blame him. Big $ to be made in Hollywood. Hope he can make it past Silva and make a small run in the UFC before retiring. |

Posted 7/4/07 4:41:00AM I, for one, am happy he didn't retire. I like watching him fight. He throws kicks like Anderson throws punches. _______________________________________ |
