Posted 4/8/07 11:45:00AM "I still love this sport tremendously and still want to be a part of it. I know myself and it's not even just being competitive, but it's just being there learning and competing. There's still very much a fire burning there so I'm going to do it.... I didn't get in this to be second-best, of course. But at the same time, not everybody can be a champion. I'm just going to go back to 155, work my way up, take it one fight at a time and see where it puts me. I think there's exciting fights out there for me, there's still challenges out there for me, there's still things I'd like to try to improve on and that's the main thing. I don't necessarily have the title in my eyes, but I do have my own personal goals as far as the technical level that I want to get to." - Kenny Florian LINK _______________________________________ |

Posted 4/8/07 11:48:00PM He has a better chance against Edgar/Maynard/Melendez than he does against Penn/Aldo. Good move. _______________________________________ |

Agreed. Not to mention all the match ups this creates. Pettis vs. Florian anyone? _______________________________________ |

Posted 9/24/10 8:39:00PM Didn't Maynard already dominate Florian? I don't think a rematch would go any differently. |

Posted 1/25/08 3:12:00PM tbh, i dont think it matters what weight class he goes to..LW's will out class him..Maynard, Edgar and Gilbert would all out-class him easily... |

Posted 6/7/10 4:11:00PM I'm glad he's not getting pissy when he loses and "retires" like Pellegrino because Kenny can beat a lot of good fighters at 155 and 145, much more than a gatekeeper, he's a top 10 in two weight classes at one time thats a big accomplishment only a few have done (Penn, Hendo, Anderson). |

Posted 5/17/11 11:13:00PM I made the suggestion to move back to LW after the loss to Aldo. I think it is a good move. His strength and muscles have been a key reason for his short comings and if he was to improve on those areas, he should be able to have better performances against the stronger and younger fighters. I definitely think he can make one more title run. |

Posted 7/15/07 12:46:00AM Before he retires I'd like a catchweight rematch between him & diego. |

As random as this is, when those two were both at lightweight I thought that would be a dream matchup between 2 and 3. Winner would rm BJ (back then). I kinda wish diego was still at lw...just like beej |

Posted 1/16/09 11:38:00PM ROCK ON ![]() ![]() Makes sense to me, The LW division has all beat each other, and cleaned out contenders.GSOT,etc. making an SF fighter a top 3-? idk maybe, but hopefully Florian and all these other fighter that are popular, can get better wrestling, so the Mixed can be back in MMA! Florian would be a good style matchup for edgar, but Edgar can easily take anyone down, but often stands now. i WANT kenflo vs nate Diaz dunham guillard ross pearson, and everyone Kenny hasnt fought at lw |

Posted 6/21/07 4:27:00PM He did better than I thought he would against Aldo. Probably shouldn't have given him a title shot so soon at FW. He seems to be one of those older UFC guys in the spot where they can't win a title and might not be fighting much longer. Hughes, Franklin. Just put on some exciting fights. |

I felt he did everything he should have done in the Aldo fight. He was simply too physically weak to get the job done. |

Posted 7/12/11 3:30:00PM Maybe if he takes out a bunch more top contenders like he's been doing since even his early days people will stop acting like he is a mediocre choke artist. LW is the way to go good for him. I think I would be very interested in a LAuzon rematch, hopefully main eventing a TV card so we could have 5 rounds of action. |
