This Sunday night, Chris “Lights Out” Lytle (30-18-5) will make his twentieth appearance in the Octagon when he meets Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (23-9) in the main event for UFC on Versus 5 in Milwaukee.

Since Lytle’s UFC debut in 2000 at UFC 28, the Indianapolis native has had mixed success in facing some of the sport’s finest athletes. However, it is his fighting spirit, matched with his crowd-pleasing style and determination that has captivated UFC audiences for over a decade.

With Lytle’s exciting style of brawling and his British counterpart’s style of striking, it’s no secret that this fight has all the potential to be the fight of the night. The UFC quickly recognized the potential for excitement, and decided that this fight would be best suited as the main event.

I'm guessing Lytle stands and trades with him for the first minute, and shoots for a takedown sometime before the second minute.

I hope Hardy is the first to knock Lytle the fook out.....I agree with the above statement, though, I think Hardy stuffs Lytle's attempts and wins via UD.

I wanted to prop you cause this always happens. Im guessing the same thing. They will trade for a minute or two and then Lytle will shoot for the take down. I love Hardy and hes my favorite fighter but he needs to learn the takedown D

Bad idea for Lytle. He can propbably beat Hardy on the feet but Hardy's a good counter puncher and should have a reach advantage too. Lytle is much better on the ground than Hardy but I can totally see him standing and trading and losing a fight he can win on the mat, just like his fight with Marcus Davis.

If theres one person who I can belive when they say im gonna stand and trade its Lytle.

I doubt lytle stands the whole time with hardy

jae_1833 » Posted 7/19/07 11:27:00AM

I believe him....wasnt this what he said before he scrapped with Marcus Davis??

Chris Lytle never shoots for takedowns. I can't even remember the last time he initiated one. His submissions normally come in scrambles when people attempt to take him down.

IMO Chris Lytle will stand with Hardy.

And the reach stats will look like this

Lytle, 5'11" 68"
Hardy, 6'0" 74"

Also, i think Lytle is without a doubt the better pugilist. The reach however is going to compliment Hardy's style of punches since he's so broad and top heavy, his window to catch his opponents coming in is normally alot smaller. And on the flip side, Lytle has some of the best slip-in footwork in the division. I think its going to be a great brawl.

IMO, Hardy should be able to outstrike Lytle and be able to stop any take downs. Lytle is not exactly a take down specialist.

If Lytle wants to take him down, he easily could. If he decides to end it, this fight is over in the first half of the first round.

If he wants to stand and trade, its still a very winnable fight but a lot more dangerous.

I think Lytle will stand and trade. He never initiates a ground battle. That makes this fight so much harder to pick than it needs to be.

sorry Lytle, i get to witness Hardy knock u out cold live..can't wait till sunday..Bradley Center, here i come...

I see Lytle loading up on a haymaker knocking Hardy down and sub victory. Don't see Hardy winning this on feet or ground. Not sayin either one has a questionable chin but if one does its Hardy.
