Posted 10/13/10 10:40:00PM "Rumble" will have to wait a little bit longer to headline his first UFC event. Massive welterweight Anthony Johnson has been forced to withdraw from the main event of June's UFC on Versus 4 event, and Rick Story has agreed to step in and face Nate Marquardt (31-10-2 MMA, 10-4 UFC). The pair now meets in the main event of "UFC on Versus 4: Marquardt vs. Story," which takes place June 26 at Pittsburgh's Consol Energy Center. The night's main card airs on Versus. Article |

Not a bad idea to step in to face a "name" like Marquardt in his first fight at 170 in about 6 years.. _______________________________________ |

Posted 9/24/10 8:39:00PM At first I screamed "NOOOOOOOOO!" but once the initial shock wore off, I realized that the main event was saved by Story. Still a very exciting fight, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Posted 10/13/10 10:40:00PM This **** is like McDonald's, I'm loving it! Story calls out Fitch, Fitch throws a bitch, and Story ends up ready to take on a big name in less than a month after his breakout fight. He'll probably be headlining too! Good for him. So many good story lines come with this fight! The former 185 title contender makes his cut to 170 to meet young buck on the rise, coming off the heels of his biggest win ever..... Can you say WAR, gentleman? ![]()

Posted 4/8/07 11:45:00AM Well this is some awesome last minute match making. Sad to see Rumble go but this is the perfect situation for Story. Facing a name as big as Marquardt will do wonders for Story. Plus if Marquardt has a rough time cutting the weight Story will be able to capitalize on it big time and really make a claim for a title shot. _______________________________________ |

Posted 3/8/08 5:44:00PM This is Story's fight to lose, Marquardt 's flaws have been exposed and I don't think he's going to have an easy cut. Story by split decision. |

I agree. Except that I think it'll be 30-27 across the board. _______________________________________ |

Posted 1/4/08 6:33:00PMnate had trouble with chael sonnen whose wrestlng is on a much higher level than rick story's... i don't see it as a huge gap in nate's repertoire. he is an accomplished grappler. the x factor is the weight cut because nate was always a big looking middleweight but he's in a tight camp and i think he'll pull it off properly. Story is obviously hungry callin out alves and than fitch and i've been impressed with him thus far but i think this time he bit off more than he can chew. my issue here is that if nate wins will he refuse to fight gsp? |

Posted 6/27/07 8:20:00PM I'm a lot more excited for this fight now, and even more pumped that I'll be there live, I think the weight cut hurts Nate, and Story takes a ud. |

Posted 10/20/09 3:33:00PM as much as i loved Story's performance, i dont share the same rose coloured glasses you all share ![]() Marquardt was taken down at will by Sonnen, but Sonnen has some of the best wrestling in the game. Nate stuffed a lot of Okamis TDs and Okami is a big strong MW. while standing i give Nate the advantage. the only real issue is the weightcut. i can see Marquardt winning the 1st 2 rounds, but gassing in the 3rd where Story takes advantage. Marquardt wins 29-28 _______________________________________ |
