Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto is coming to the UFC and his first fight has now been confirmed as the Japanese fighter will meet Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in a bantamweight fight likely set for UFC 126 in Las Vegas.
Sources close to the negotiations confirmed the bout to MMAWeekly.com on Friday, with at least verbal agreements in place for the February bout.
Yamamoto just signed with the UFC as confirmed by president Dana White on Twitter as of Thursday night. The former Dream and K-1 fighter was a powerhouse just a few years ago and widely considered the top featherweight in the sport before injuries and a run at the Olympics put his career on hold.

You don't think Kid is capable of winning this fight? Johnson has proven his worth and Kid hasn't been his old self lately, but I still think Kid will take it.

Yeah, I'm shocked that the UFC isn't giving Kid a tune-up fight. Throwing him in with Mighty Mouse is putting him to the test right away.
Mighty Mouse is a good test for Kid. Kid shouldn't take him lightly. Signing with the UFC just might have lit a fire under his butt. Let's just hope he's training with the right people, and his mind is focused. I dont think training with Hiranaka is a bad thing, and he has his dad for a wrestling trainer.
I think mighty mouse should try to mix things up as much as possible. I would suggest any flurries though. Because Kid has excellent counters. I think he should try to outwork him, the way Warren did and work for subs.
Excellent fight....excellent overall fight card.
I like who they picked for a first test.....they didn't mess around with Gomi either....the rules are defeat quality competition or move on.
Wow, I'm excited for this fight. Once again Mighty mouse is doubted but I think he should actually be the favorite. Who I will pick is still a mystery to me but I cant believe its a prelim
