Posted 11/18/07 4:54:00PM And then there were 10. As in only ten bouts remain on the “UFC 122: Marquardt vs. Okami” roster. Although the event is officially underway inside the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, Alessio Sakara was abruptly scratched from tonight’s co-main event against Jorge Rivera. According to FightersOnly, Sakara came down with “flu-like symptoms” early this morning. An Octagon source told FO the Italian, “Woke up sick, with nausea and flu-like symptoms. He saw a doctor and he was really ill. He came to the arena anyway and was going to fight, but his symptoms came back in a big way and he is too sick to fight.” There are also reports the striker was vomiting backstage, which prompted the world’s premier mixed martial arts show to scrap the co-featured contest. Posted 1/24/07 6:50:00PM What's the new hot bout for today then? Or will there be one? |

Posted 1/30/07 10:59:00AM The weight cut combined with the travel probably really had his immune system bogged down. Tough break for the guy but I'm sure there was nothing he could do and that he was probably violently ill. |

Posted 6/21/07 4:27:00PM How much do you think Sakara cuts because he doesnt look really big but recently he talked about fighting at HW. As for the fight, I just dont think it's suppose to happen. I would love if they added this fight to the TUF finale or fight for the troops, if possible. Hot bout has got to be either, Winner/Siver or McCray/Rocha both 44%//56%. |

I agree he doesn't look too big. Not really sure how much he cuts, tho. He obviously used to fight 205 so he's probably cutting at the very least 15-20 lbs. He'd get wrecked at HW IMO. Dude is fighting for his life (/contract) enough in other weight classes |

Posted 7/5/07 11:42:00PM Honestly they should add the fight to the montreal card That card needs another good fight on the main card And demote the struve bout Hot bout should be winner/siver. Since fight will happen tonight |

Posted 4/8/07 11:48:00PM He use to fight at HW i believe. At 205 he was quite a bit chunkier than he is now at 185. I dont think he cuts much weight at all to get down to MW _______________________________________ |

You might be surprised. A lot of these "chunkier guys" don't walk around lean between fights at all. Most of them bulk up quite a bit afterwards because they get so sick of dieting that they just let themselves go for a couple months after a fight. I've seen several lightweights bulk up 35-45 lbs after fights regularly. One of them would bulk all the way up to 205 after nearly every fight. Even then... 15-20 lbs (which was what I estimated earlier in the thread) is like cutting virtually nothing for a MW. That was a very conservative estimate on my end. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual number is up closer to 30 or even above Hell, high school wrestlers who compete in the mid 100's usually cut at least 10 to 15 lbs during season. That's just amateur high school athletes. |
