Posted 9/30/09 9:33:00PM he EMULATED sonnen, he's not sonnen though. sonnen IMO is one of the best wrestlers in the ufc and has very good submission defense. silvas gonna need all the help he can get in the wrestling catagory. he's gotta keep it on the feet. he should be working on getting back up after getting taken down because sonnen WILL take him down that a guarantee. |

Posted 12/28/08 5:56:00PM I want to say the last 5 of Sonnens 6 losses have ended by Submission... So gotta disagree when people say he has great sub defensive. But I do agree he will take Silva down but thats about it. |

Posted 1/24/07 8:41:00PM He was subbed twice by Horn, and Horn is one of the best sub grapplers in the country, especially in the time they fought. Sonnen isn't air-tight from top, but he doesn't get caught often, and has turned up his game in the last year or two. _______________________________________ |

Silva is very comfortable on his back. His BJJ is very good. We just rarely see him have to use it. Chael should have some serious concerns about being submitted from the guard if he plans on just hanging out there and pounding away like he tends to do. With Anderson's long legs and Chaels fighting style he is very susceptible to the triangle choke. |

Posted 8/3/10 3:08:00PM Doesn't get caught often???!!?? He gets caught all the time!! 2 fights before the Silva fight Damien Maia caught him with the same triangle!!! And a couple fights before that Paulo Filho caught him an a armbar!!! If your gonna chill in someone's guard for 15 min at least be aware of the submissions............He Blew it. He dominated the champ for 4 rounds and blew it. And also---He never finishes any fights!!!!! He's a grinder/decesion type of fighter.......He's just not that good IMO. |
