And they are now in the crosshairs of one Dana White. "Here we go. Alistair Overeem is gonna be the new guy? Alistsair Overeem got knocked out by Chuck Liddell at 205. You know what’s funny? Because we don’t have him signed he’ll be the new guy. The guy that Chuck knocked out at 205. All the UFC haters will be like, ‘oh yeah, this guy is the best.’ And all the idiot websites will rank him the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world."

Jeez... First of all- I haven't seen that yet.

Second of all- What's wrong with fans wanting to see Alistair signed by the UFC? The guy has been impressive. Dana shouldn't confuse fans wanting him to sign someone because they're making a name for themselves with fans being idiots.

If my very recent memory is accurate, it's on episode 1 of The Best Of PRIDE FC on Spike, I watched it the other day. It's legit, Chuck did KO Overeem in PRIDE.

Assuming it would be at catchweight since I doubt Overeem would cut to 205, of course Overeem.

I watched it when it happened in 2003.

Bas and Kenny on inside MMA said they figured he should be #1. I'm pretty sure the UFC has stringent drug testing policies though and Overeem would get raped by those things. You remember the Rogers fight where they were supposed to do olympic testing then all of a sudden they did independent testing? That won't fly int he UFC. Now maybe the guy is just jacked from diet and exercise, but that claim hasn't worked for Brock yet and he hasn't failed one single test. I'd like to see Overeem but he has had a few losses in the K-1 arena over the past few years, and he keeps fighting guys in mma that don't quite match up with the top guys in Dana's organization. It sucks to see guys that good fighting in other promotions against people like Ricco Rodriguez.

They don't have policies. It's up to the state athletic commissions unless they're in a state or country with no regulatory body. If that's the case then UFC (namely Marc Ratner) oversees it and they use NSAC guidelines.

Dana can't stand the fact that some of his TUF generation fans are evolving into real MMA fans and noticing fighters that aren't under the UFC's tyrannical rule.

Chuck knocked out a 23 year-old Overeem seven years ago when Chuck was in his prime. I don't think thats a sound argument for why Overeem doesn't belong in the UFC.

this is one of the dumber things i have read on here and i have seen it several times now. not that i dont think ubereem is on drugs, but you clearly dont know what youre talking about. olympic style testing IS independent testing. the state athletic commissions require testing on a codified schedule, any additional testing done by any organization on any schedule other than the one laid out by the athletic commission is by definition "independent" testing. independent testing doesnt mean that strikeforce did all the testing themselves so they could lie about the results, it means that they had ADDITIONAL testing beyond what was required by the state athletic commission. strikeforce doesnt have their own drug testing lab or something

While this is an accurate statement, it has nothing to do with the article.

It's a website to the common fan. Someone that doesn't care about history and nostalgia.

how would UFC haters think the new guy is Overeem? haha that doesn't make sense.

Everyone in k-1 has a few losses over the past few years. You cant look at overeem's k-1 record and be like "I dont know about this guy, he only went 5-2 over the last 3 years and he lost to Hari and Bojansky." If you look at the best k-1 fighters they have similar records at best.

He's not fighting Ricco Rodriguez.

I don't know what to think about Overeem. He is very talented, but he has a lot of losses. I think besides Rogers Buentello may be his best win in the past few years. It is so hard to know how he would stack up in the UFC atm, until he fights Werdum, which I don't see happening any time soon.
