Although initially expected to fight Pat Barry (5-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC), heavyweight Gilbert Yvel (36-14-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) instead will fight Ben Rothwell (30-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in June at UFC 115.

Sources close to the event today confirmed the change with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) and said verbal agreements are in place for the bout.

UFC 115 is expected to take place June 12 at GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia. The night's main card airs on pay-per-view.

With Barry no longer facing Yvel, Barry vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic is expected for UFC 115.

Rothwell by whatever he wants-KO,sub,whatever.The hype that Yvel gets is beyond me.The only thing the guy has ever done worthwhile in his career is KO a very shop worn Pedro Rizzo, and stop a very green and very gassed Cheick Kongo.

Wow. I was looking forward to Barry vs Yvel. Yvel is better suited to beat Rothwell, so mayeb the UFC is trying to build him up a bit. And If Mirko and Pat fight......I think Pat might put him away for good. He proved dealing with Hardonk he can handle a taller guy. Pa is very explosive for a HW. Bad match up for CroCop IMO

Yvel is gonna smash Rothwell. They must be trying to build him up.

Yvel by whatever he wants - KO , sub , whatever . The hype that Rothwell gets is beyond me . The only thing the guy has ever done worthwhile in his career is decision a very shop worn ricco rodriguez and get a gift decision against Roy nelson. This is a guy who landed flush shots on arlovski without even staggering him .

And Yvel has lost to multiple B to C level middleweights.

So has Rothwell...Dan Christison, Carlos Barreto.. (whoops didn't see MW's just thought you meant B/C level fighters)

Regardless, Yvel has fought more fights and has fought tougher competition throughout his career than Ben Rothwell has, which would give Yvel more opportunities to lose.

Yvel also TKO'd Barreto in 2001, while Rothwell was KO'd in 2003. Not trying to use MMAth, just saying it's kinda hard to say Yvel has lost to B/C level middleweights when Rothwell has fought questionable competition his entire career pretty much.

I like this match up. I am even more excited about this than Pat Berry.

Yvel got decisioned by Horn, tapped by Minowaman and Igor, got soundly outwrestled by Vitor Belfort and Fujita, and was KO'ed by Dirty Bob and Roman Zentsov.

Dude went something like 2-7-1 in Pride, with his only wins coming over Gary Goodridge and Akira Shoji.

Brian.

Exactly , Rothwell also got knocked out by Ibragim Magomedov , while Gilbert choked him unconscious . Gilbert also tapped out dirty bob the first time they fought and knocked him out the 3rd time they fought . Gilbert was the first guy to knock out Semmy schilt , absolutely destroyed him ! Semmy would have absolutely decimated ben rothwell . The loss to minowaman was 5 years ago. Anderson was getting tapped out by(according to brians logic) b level welterweights 6 years ago , people do improve . Gilbert grappling has steadily improved since he started training with john lewis , that includes surviving on his back for 2 and a half rounds against barnett (who just won the world nogi in 2009). Horn , Vitor , Igor and Fujita were all studs and top ranked guys back when gilbert lost to them . Roman zentov , according to fedor is the hardest hitter hes every trained with , that includes ernesto hoost , sergei kharitonov , aleks E etc. No surprise he went down from a shot on the chin .It's a lot easier to call them b and c level fighters today when its evident you(brian) havent watched the evolution of the sport , reading wikipedia can open answer so many questions.

Really!? I like both cards. A lot of good fights on both.

Yeah boy!!! Yvel is just the fn man, I say that with alot of fighters i know haha, but he just goes in their for war, never backs down and has a ton of heart. Yvel gave Dos Santos a hell of a fight, if Dos Santos had any less boxing he would have probably lost but his boxing was freakin solid so he was able to get the best of him in the end. And Dos Santos definitely a better boxer IMO then Ben Rothwell, and I think with Yvel chopping at his legs & belly with knees & kicks with just as much power coming back will be too much for him. Love this brawl though! Definitely excites up the heavyweight division!! Yvel 2nd round TKO!!!
