Sonnen has a medical suspension against him until sometime in March so he is not likely. As far as MW any other fighter would be a COMPLETE waste of time. So he must go up to LHW imo. but who would he fight?

Couture? Thiago?

who do you think he should fight. there are not that many choices with a lot of fighters already tied up with fights. Source

Yushin Okami? I dunno, this is a tough spot for the UFC! I see Anderson taking a light heavyweight fight.

Couture a possiblity, He is 100% now, And a win would grant him a Title Shot, A loss wouldnt hurt him much either.

Thiago Silva is a big enough name and has been resting for a long time. They need to give him a match at some point and Thiago would be someone who's make an exciting fight out of it.

BJ Penn beat Frankie Edgar more times than Benson Henderson beat Frankie Edgar.

Maia mayhem...haha idk belcher.

This should be interesting. Im starting to feel for Joe Silva and all these injuries.

Like I said in the news section, I'd like it to be Randy or Chael. Atleast if he fights Chael, he stays active and that gives Vitor time to recover until the summer and then they can finally fight, and that gives time for the next contender to arise at MW or he could just go up to 205.

And Randy I think would be a good 205 opponent and it would be good for both IMO since everybody knows about Randy's master gameplans and he's always been mentioned as an interesting match up for Silva and a possible guy that could beat him on gameplanning alone. Randy's also a solid 205 name to keep Anderson moving up those ranks even though he's probably already a top 10er at 205 after dominating Forrest. And Anderson's a P4P great and has established himself IMO at 205 as a legit contender so I wouldn't mind if Randy got another title shot if he would beat freakin Silva.

But they could and probably will just scrap his fight since they already have a title fight and a strong co-feature with Fitch-Alves 2, but I'd love to see Anderson stay on that card.

You know Sonnen and Belfort are going to end up fighting now, since Silva will be fighting up @ LHW in the mean time. Yeah I could see Anderson fighting Thiago Silva, but if anderson beats thiago silva, Anderson would be getting a title shot right after @ LHW. Or if couture fights Silva, both will be fighting for a title fight spot as well. So its going to get exciting in the LHW div. I think Anderson is just going to give up his MW belt and just stay at LHW IF and IF ONLY he gets a win over couture OR Thiago. If he loses I think he will drop back down to MW and defend his title. Once he defends his title and wins OR loses, I think his contract will be up in the UFC and he will leave and go challenge Gegard/Hendo/Fedor/Jacare/King MO. Silva will be 35 in a couple months as well, didn't realize how old he was getting.

Will Sonnen be cleared by the commisions by 112. He had a gash on his head and fought less then a week ago.

Randy seems possible and it would boost the PPV like crazy. But I dont care to see it.

Thiago Silva... Not interested in that one either.

Maia maybe

My guess is that he will be pulled from the card and get Chael in april or may

Why don't you guys just go an execution instead?

Couture is my favorite fighter, but I would be so surprised if he has anything left to offer to Anderson Silva.....of course, Couture's ability to surprise me is one of the main reasons I like him....

LOL I just posted the same thing with the same comclusion b4 I saw your post, sorry bout that lol

prozacnation1978 » Posted 7/5/07 11:42:00PM

i wanna see him defend the belt, just push the match back,
but knowing ufc, it will be a 205 bout probably vs thiago silva,
or couture, like couture would knock silva out, couture would lose, and lose title shot

no sonnen won't clear by the time needed
i will be curious to see what ufc does, and very soon with decision

I think it probably comes down to Luiz Cane or Thiago Silva at LHW.

Thiago Silva is perfect for Anderson. I see thiago winning too. Hes too strong for Anderson.

I hope this was meant as a joke.

Not only would listening to the commentators in a "Silva v. Silva' fight be annoying as hell, but remember the Thiago/Machida fight? Same thing would happen in my opinion

I say give it to Sonnen. Even with no sparring until march 24, he'd take this fight in a heartbeat. I don't like sonnen, and I wouldn't blame him in the least for not taking it yet, but I think he'd do it. He'd get tapped quick though.

Even though I wanna see Anderson defend the title for the 6th time already, I'd say Randy makes the most sense. On paper, Randy has no chance. That's why this would be a brilliant, because we've said that so many times that it makes this a must see. Plus, low risk for each fighter. If Randy loses to Silva, no big deal at his age to lose to the best in the world. Plus, SIlva's unbeaten streak is on the line, but even if he loses, he's still the 185 pound champ.

I think it SHOULD be Sonnen

I would RATHER see Randy

Can't think of a suitable third choice that isn't booked
