Posted 7/26/07 3:12:00PM A always talkative Frank Mir breaks down his improvements after losing to Brock Lesnar at UFC 100, details new training and predicts a very easy second round submission against Cheick Kongo on Saturday at UFC 107.link _______________________________________ |

Posted 12/17/07 8:56:00PM Frank had best win after all the trash talking he's done about Kongo!
If he "plays about with him" he'll get dropped and pounded out. The major different between Mir and Kongo is Kongo can defend strikes Mir can't. _______________________________________ |

Posted 1/30/07 10:59:00AM You know I don't think Kongo has ever been submitted. That's saying something considering how poor his ground game is supposed to be. |

You have to figure he has been working heavily on his submission defense leading up to this fight also. I really think Mir is gonna get cocky on this one and get beat. |

Posted 9/13/07 5:12:00PM I think Frank thinks that Frank has better stand up that Frank actually has. I think Frank will push his luck a lil' too much and get KTFO. |

Posted 6/22/07 11:51:00AM Kongo could not handle Herring, there is no way he will last vs Mir |

That was a long time ago. Not really much of a comparison to be made. |

Not to mention, styles make matchups. To state the obvious, Herring and Mir are completely different fighters. That being said, I agree that Kongo probably will not be able to handle Frank. Anything can happen though. _______________________________________ |

I think that he hasn't been submitted in the UFC cause he hasnt faced a BJJ black belt yet... Hardonk, Herring, Cain, Al Turk, Crocop, Wellisch, none of em have BJJ comparable to Mir's... ( Marrero might have a black belt I dont know, but he isnt a HW) I like Mir so much better when his mouth isn't open... He might be a lil too cocky coming into this fight, Kongo might be a Live Underdog in this match pending the odds. |

Al Turk is a black belt as far as I know. He was a European ADCC champion. He's not shown it yet but he's definitely no slouch on the ground. Heath Herring is definitely no slouch when it comes to BJJ. He's not an offensive phenom, but he's got 16 submission wins and has hung in there on the ground with the likes of Noguiera and many other accomplished grapplers. I agree with the sentiment that none of these guys have BJJ like Mir does, but I think we shouldn't cut Kongo short here. He's definitely got survival skills on the ground. Otherwise Cain Velasquez would have choked him out. Again, not saying he won't get submitted, but I think we can all at least give him a little bit of his dues. |

Posted 1/31/07 10:42:00PM I think the main reason Kongo has not been submitted is that he is a strong and durable fighter. He is not easy to pound into submission and lately he has been harder and harder to take down by all but the most elite wresters. |
