"I’m young and I know it takes a lifetime to get a dream like this. With everything that happened to me back in the days, now it’s like a dream come true. I always want to please my public, my fans, and I want to keep my fights standing. That’s what everybody expects. But, like I said before, I’m a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under master Andre Pederneiras and it’s my base. Jiu-Jitsu is my base. So if you think I’m a good striker, you are going to be very impressed with my ground fighting."

Kid's a monster! Been a fan of his since his flying knees.

I love this guy.

hes part of the new breed of mmartists out there that are so good at everything and its going to take one heck of a fighter to take him out. its early, but this might be one of those guys talked about years from now.

IMHO he's going to be one of the best ever. I know that's saying a lot, but with his amazing striking ability, and superior jiu jitsu he is going to be hard to stop. We may be looking at the beginning of a LONG run at the top for Jose Aldo.

thats a bold statement, but i cant say i disagree at this point. he looks like the real deal and then some.

I'm just really, REALLY high on him right now. He doesn't look to have any holes in his game. He seems to be very focused, has a great attitude, and is working very hard on improving every aspect of his game. He is young, and as long as he continues to work hard and improve it seems like the sky is the limit. I'm really looking forward to watching this kid grow and evolve for years to come.

Ya I think we're probably looking at a legend in the making with this kid. I expect a long run at the top and I would love to see him jump weight and fight BJ. Even now I think thats a fight he could win, and he's only going to get better.

As good has Aldo is... he still has room to improve.

So far (and I have a hard time thinking of a fight where it wouldn't be this way) his speed make up for the fact that he doesn't exactly throw hands in the best way possible. Sometimes we see his jab, but a guy as fast and accurate as Aldo probably should throw it a lot more because when he perfects it he will be nearly impossible to stand up with. Don't get me wrong... if a guy is fast enough to lead with uppercuts and flying knees more power to him, but he will be even better once he establishes his jab better.

Another area where Aldo can still improve is in his head movement. Again, his speed more than makes up for it in every fight so far and if a guy is quick enough to not move his head until his opponent starts to throw then more power to him. In addition, Aldo is getting really good at parrying. If you watch the Brown fight there are a couple times where Aldo punches, sees Brown trying his overhand, and redirects his punch to parry. He also keeps his left in the "phone" position in a way similar to Rampage which is really great defense. Aldo might never need to have great head movement, but when he adds it to his game he will close those split second chances he still has of getting caught.
Aldo is great and imo has as much potential as any fighter in mma history. But remember that he is only 23 and will be polishing his game for the next decade.

jose aldo is a little monster, cant believe what he did to brown, browns no joke and made it look to easy, have fun beating this dude

george112 » Posted 1/24/07 7:00:00PM

i agree with everyones posts so far.

hes a beast and definitely has some real star potential.

BUT

i do think Faber would give him problems.Aldo hasnt fought anyone as fast as him.and Faber is plenty fast.so no im not saying Faber would beat him.just think he would give Aldo problems.

Aldo is very talented, but I think you're getting ahead of yourself.
