I can't take it anymore. I can no longer root for Kang. The guy has all the tools. HE shows them in the first round of every fight by totally dominating both in stand up and on the ground.

Then in the second round, he just folds or lapses and falls apart. Tonight was the worst I've seen though. Honestly, the fight with Bisping was borderline suspicious in terms of how it went down. I just don't get it. I don't get how a guy with his experience can repeatedly just die off after the first round.

I used to get excited when Kang was going to fight, but now, I hope I never see him fight again.

I agree with everything you just said even the Shoeless Joe jackson stuff. Thats the first time watching a mma fight it crossed my mind.

He's a dominant first round fighter but apparently doesn't have the cardio to go longer than 5 minutes. Bisping's ground and pound wasn't that devastating but Kang was gassed.

I do agree that Kang is good for the 1st round, however, it looked to me like Bisping's GnP was powerful.....not powerful enough to finish, obviously, but it damaged Kang for sure.

I am sorry, I refuse to believe that a fighter with Kang's experience has a general cardio problem. Every fighter can have an adrenaline dump or have a bad night or be recovering from an injury, but in Kang's case, it is just happening too often for me to buy that it is a general conditioning issue.

I was talked out of Bisping and switched to Kang. For how much hype this guy had he has been a huge disappointment.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in the playground is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no props, and may the mods have mercy on your soul.

I don't think it's a lack of cardio, I think it's a lack of heart. It seems like when he gets put into a tough situation he just crumbles. As long as he maintains control of the fight he looks dominant, but when he hits a bump in the road he seems to fall apart and forget his gameplan and training.

I was pretty disappointed as well. The guy can be an exciting and very talented fighter, but when something goes wrong he just isn't able to deal with it.

kevietre » Posted 6/29/07 1:36:00AM

Watch the fight again, Kang breathes heavily during the second round and just lays there covering up. It may not be entirely cardio it's probably a combo of cardio, mental sustainability, and heart he obviously wasn't the same fighter from the first round. Perhaps Kang relies too much on his talent. Great fighter but not a complete fighter.

jet lag could also have been a factor for all of the non-UK fighters tbh. If Kang gassed I would probably attribute it to that, because he usually doesn't get tired, he usually gets mentally broken by his opponent if he loses IMO.

When it comes down to it this is why I changed my pick back to Bisping at the last minute, Kang for how good he is, is just way to inconsistant for me. I feel your pain Rush, he will never again be that guy we watched in Pride/FC.

bjj1605 » Posted 10/11/07 4:18:00PM

Honestly I think Kang quit in that fight. The ground and pound may have been hurting him but it wasn't stopping the fight. He stood up and threw a shot, then went right back down by his own free will. He was looking for an out.

Violence108 » Posted 7/13/07 3:38:00PM

it looked like to me he gased himself in the 1st round, and didnt have anything left in the 2nd

copcopps » Posted 4/4/08 4:46:00PM

I've admired Kang as a fighter, but everytime I pick for him he's lost. Excewpt in teh Prof. X fight and even then he looked average compared to his PRIDE days

Lay_N_Pray » Posted 1/30/07 4:04:00PM

I would say the fix was in except Kang lost to Belcher and that is just embarrassing when Kang is clearly more technical.

So the fact he has done this a few times before makes me think it was just another disappointing showing.
