Tyson Griffin Ready For Top UFC Lightweights   [View Full Version]
ThaAxeMurderer7 » Posted 1/16/08 9:55:00PM

On Saturday night, Tyson Griffin became the first man to give Hermes Franca the sting of a stoppage loss.

Going into the fight at UFC 103, the 25-year-old Griffin made sure to keep his stand-up game sharp. While Franca's boxing skills weren't the most technical, his hands were heavy.

Griffin won almost every exchange by controlling the distance and pace of the fight. Though he caught a few shots in the second, he regained his composure and continued to chip away at the Brazilian.

wont happen though because they are teammates, there are still a lot of good fights out there for him and even some rematches that id like to see.

Well, as long as Tyson fights again and doesn't abandon the sport I'll be happy.

Florian would have been a good opponent if he weren't already fighting Guida

Tyson has been fighting nothing but tough competition since 06 and that was well after the infamous fight with Faber. Look at his recent record:

Win Hermes Franca TKO (Punches) R 2 3:26
Win Rafael dos Anjos Decision (Unanimous)
Loss Sean Sherk Decision (Unanimous)
Win Marcus Aurelio Decision (Unanimous)
Win Gleison Tibau Decision (Unanimous)
Win Thiago Tavares Decision (Unanimous)
Win Clay Guida Decision (Split)
Loss Frankie Edgar Decision (Unanimous)
Win David Lee Submission (Rear Naked Choke) R 1 1:50
Win Duane Ludwig TKO (Punches) R 1 3:57

Pretty impressive to say the least!

He says he's ready for Top Lightweights, but that is exactly what he has been fighting, maybe not top 3 but all of his opponents have been tough. I just hope he doesn't think he's a world class kickboxer now after that knockout. If he does that against someone with great stand up then he'll be in for a short night.

Gray should be the next LW contender and Tyson should face the winner of Guida/Florian.
