After a rumored slot on either UFC 105 in Manchester, England, or at an as-yet-unannounced third fight card in November, UFC president Dana White today announced that lightweight champion B.J. Penn would make his next title defense on Dec. 12.

White made the announcement on a video blog that was today posted on BJPenn.com.

Though not yet officially announced Dec. 12 is the anticipated date of UFC 107, a card expected to take place at FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn.

this is a pretty donk move, they better be airing this for free because its not worth the money especially in north america. sanchez fought quite some time ago and penn took virtually no damage in his last fight theres no reason for such a lay off

December? That sucks....

Pretty awesome IMO. This makes me like Penn more cause he is fighting under 6 months and sticking to his division.

This card most def. will not be free. It's the big end of the year ppv. Also on this card you have Rashad vs. Rampage, Mir vs. Kongo, and Thiago Alves vs. Paulo Thiago. Don't be surprised if they add another really good LW or WW matchup to round out the card.

I'll be VERY surprised if the Rampage/Rashad fight is still on this card, even though it's in Rampage's home state.

I think Page will be gone filming A Team and Dana added this BJ fight to make up for that.

It probably pisses him off that he can't counterprogram against Fedor with it anymore.
