UFC 91. Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar for the prestigious UFC heavyweight championship. “The Natural” has overcome many obstacles in his heralded UFC career including being the “old-man,” but there was just no way he could overcome the sheer size and strength difference

If it's weight-class discussion it goes here. Closed.

why do people always despise the idea of more weight classes?

a classes isn't needed between 155 and 170 or even 170 and 185
a 195 would be nice and a cruiser weight has got to happen IMO

a cruiser weight class being needed cant be argued.

what randy did at UFC 91 was very very ballsy. 220 against a 280?

if Urijah fought Henderson people would freak and no one would deny the fact that something needs added between the 150lber and the 200lber

Now :135..145..155...170...185....205...........265
Later135..145..155...170...185..195..205......235......265

Not a problem what so ever imo

I would like to see a cruiserweight division, I think most peoples gripe with this is the what would be new HW division would be very thin as far as talent goes. But I think it should and will happen in a few years.

195 weight class!!!

Aether » Posted 4/26/07 1:42:00AM

there's no need for 195, but the need for a 225/230 or so class is definitely rising. I'd say it will be feasible within the next 1-2 years.

There won't be a need for 10 pound differential weight classes for a very, very long time IMO.

Can we please stop already?! There has been probably five or six discussions on these boards in the last week regarding weight classes. I see no reason this discussion needs to be beat to death yet again.

my only problem would be that there aren't enough legit heavyweights. in the article it named only lesnar and carwin. i could think of a few more, but not many. other than that i think it would be a good idea. i've thought about it before and i would love to see cruiserweight added to the ufc.

Boo_Radley21 » Posted 7/19/07 12:28:00AM

Everything up until heavyweight shouldn't ever change. I'm against a bunch of new weight classes, but if any needs to change it's add one between 205 and 265. Every weight class has like a 15 lb space between, and then 60 for heavyweight. But I don't wanna see like 15 weight classes like boxing. I love how the UFC has it set up, it's perfect IMO.

king_katool » Posted 3/8/08 3:32:00PM

theres is no need for a 195 weightclass, no need, i would actually be upset with this addition, it would kill the MW division and hurt the BEST division in MMA the LHW, but a cruiser weight is def needed, maybe not now but within 3 years i think, i dont like the 240 limit too high, i say just spilt it down the middle and make it 206-235, thats the only weightclass that needs to be added

slapshot » Posted 6/22/07 2:16:00PM

Randy can make 205 if he wants its just that its a little harder and the HW weight class is much weaker so he chooses to stay there.
