Posted 1/16/08 9:55:00PM The UFC's light heavyweight class has long been considered a marquee division. Deep on talent, the fighters at 205 pounds have put on classic matchups, and the second half of 2009 looks no different. Lyoto Machida vs. Maurico "Shogun" Rua. Rashad Evans vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. Forrest Griffin vs. Anderson Silva. But with a number of exciting fights lined up in the coming months, where does that leave Brazilian slugger Luiz Cane (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC)? Link |

Posted 6/21/07 4:17:00PM I have been saying for a while Cane is a up and comer who I feel will be a top 10 LHW very soon. I think he is ready for the next level and even if he losses he could gain a lot of knowledge from fighting Rich. _______________________________________ |

Posted 3/25/09 9:45:00PM This is an excellent fight. It vaults one of them into the contender picture at 205lbs... both will stand and bang, both are excellent kickboxers. _______________________________________ |

Posted 7/8/07 10:05:00AM i think its a great idea for a fight. and i think its also a good thing that frankling is gonna take some time off. you see the mental fatigue grow sometimes on fighters and they tend to come back with more intensity than before so a thanksgiving weekend thing sounds like a fantastic idea or maybe for new years 2010 !! ![]()

Posted 3/28/09 12:47:00PM I absolutely like this fight...puts the winner a fight away from the belt in my opinion...does anyone see chuck fighting again? I saw a rumor of him fighting rich franklin(which I think would have been a bad fight for chuck)...but I just don't know who he could really step in there with anymore and really compete...at least not anyone in the top ten...and I would be surprised if chuck took a gimme fight |

I agree with this. Cane in ready. He took on and beat a VERY game Steve Cantwell in the area where Cantwell shines best. If Cane beats Franklin I see it as pretty hard to deny him a title fight in the near future |

Posted 6/1/07 8:17:00AM Great matchup if it happens! Franklin's going to test the prospect, but Cane will not look overmatched and probably earn some accolades as a legitimate contender, win or lose in his first primetime fight. I do not know if I consider Cane ready for this movement into the stacked top tier of the light heavyweights, but right now there is nobody else at LHW making waves enough to challenge Rich Franklin like Cane. Thiago Silva and Jardine are both coming off losses; Vera is still trying to find some footing at 205 with a win over a B or B+ UFC fighter; Rua, Evans, Jackson, and Griffin are all tied up in big fights, so Cane vs. Franklin looks like it is going to happen by default. |

Posted 6/11/07 4:16:00PM I don't know that the winner of this fight would be just one win from a title fight, but stranger things have happened. No matter who wins this is a fight I want to see. I would take Rich in this fight but idk for sure cuz Cane has big power. I sure hope this fight happens. |

Posted 7/3/07 12:48:00AM i'd rather see jon jones vs luiz cane. i know jones is fighting at 100, but i think that makes for a better fight at this point in both of their careers. franklin is a couple notches ahead of them right now. cane and jones will both be forces in the light heavyweight division for a long time time to come. |

Posted 1/24/07 7:02:00PM I think Cane would KO Franklin, and even though Franklin is legit and a tough fighter... he is also a poster boy, and I doubt the UFC would want to see him get KO'd be a guy without a big name. I would love to see this fight though. |

To me, he is already a top 10 LHW. I think Cane against Hammill/Vera winner of Franklin makes the most sense. They need to make some real number 1 contenders for Lyoto. |

Franklin destroyed Hamill... you post seems to hint that Hamill/Vera are ranked higher then Rich... not a chance. |
