Now recovered from a broken hand that forced him out of a scheduled UFC 98 fight with Andre Gusmao, UFC light heavyweight Houston Alexander is planning a late summer or early fall return to the octagon.

Alexander (8-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC), who's in a must-win situation after three consecutive UFC losses, never quit training after the injury.

"We spent the down time working on techniques and ran him through a six-week speed and agility program, so other than not hitting anything and not getting to fight, we never missed a beat training wise," Alexander's trainer, Mick Doyle, told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

What are the odds of Houston getting an opponent with a decent ground game?

Gusmao has a decent ground game, but just doesn't bother to use it. If I had to guess, his next opponent will be someone managable for him that they weren't planning on marketing, but who wouldn't be a disaster if he won either. Kyle Kingsbury would make the most sense, or possibly Brian Stann if they're looking to take a gamble, as I think that fight would be about 50/50

Stann vs. Alexander would be a war!!! Would love to see it. But really never been a fan of Houston and never will. His fights are exciting though.

I love this guy as a person, I think he is a genuinely good guy but as a fighter...As a fighter you should recognize your weaknesses or holes in your overall game and strive to change them, even if that means making drastic changes like moving to a new camp or having new trainers/training partners. This guy needs to go to a place with solid ground techniques such as a Team Quest or ATT..then and only then will he be a force in the division.
