An injury sustained during training has forced lightweight competitor Frankie Edgar out of a scheduled bout vs. Matt Wiman during next Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night 16: “UFC Fight for the Troops” event.

Replacing Edgar will be another New Jersey based fighter, up and coming lightweight prospect Jim Miller. learned of the news exclusively after speaking with a source close to one of the fighters.

...Would it be wrong to say that Wiman got a lucky break?

IMO yes. I had Wiman down for the win

I had Edgar for the win. His wrestling would have overwhelmed Wiman IMO.

I had wiman beating edgar. Wiman had the advantage I think 5'10 to Edgar 5'6", wiman i think could wrestle with edgar prolly outstrike him and wiman can defend submissions.

I hate to see two fighters I have high hopes in the UFC go at it with Miller and Wiman but I will stick with wiman because I think he will pressure miller and miller will fall. I actually think this will be a better fight.

Good matchup.

I might go with miller though. But the short notice and going against wiman makes me a bit hesitant to go with him.

seeing how i had Edgar winning with his wrestling i think this will be a harder fight for me to pick. Those Miller bros keep on impressing me, but its hard to pick a guy on short notice... that may be my deciding factor if and when i go with Wiman. Though i did pick Tim Boetsch his first outing where he tosses Heath around like a rag doll...I just don't have the same feeling as i did there, so i think im going to go with Handsome on this one.

Lucky for Wiman. Edgar had him trumped in every area, only advantage Matt had was his reach. Dont no who im going to choose now. Id of gone with miller if it wasnt for the short notice thing.

Sucks, i was going to lay down some dough on Frankie.

I had Wiamon winning, I don't yet know who I'll pick here, I might not chose, it's a tough choice IMO.

kind of, he is facing a weaker opponent, but miller is pretty tuf, in fact his only career loss is to frankie edgar.

I actually think Jim Miller is a tougher opponent than Frankie. I realize that Frankie beat Miller in 2006 but i think Miller has stepped up his game quite a bit since then and his jiu jitsu is outrageously good as shown by how he manhandled a world class grappler in David Baron.

Miller by 1st round submission

wiman either way.

A much better opponent for Wiman, but he still has his hands full. here is a downside though, and that's Jim Miller's ability to finish. With Frankie I think the bigger concern was being taken down and outwrestled. It's an area Wiman has struggled in, being outwrestled for the most part by Roger Huerta, Nick Agallar, and even Manny Gamburyan.

Now it's a different type of animal and he has to fight a tough BJJ guy with a wrestling background, but not at the same level as Edgar's.

Wiman could possiby outstrike him, but I think he's going to get outwrestled an submitted.

Wow. I'm just blown away that so many were picking Wiman over Edgar. Edgar is 4-1 in the UFC. With wins over Griffin (borderline top 10), Franca (a former top 10), and Fisher (very well rounded). His only loss was to a bigger, equally as talented, wrestler. On top of that, some were picking Wiman to finish Edgar, who has never been finished.

Wow. I'm very disappointed this fight is off. there would have to be some avy bets on this one.

Anyways, Miller is a good replacement. This will definitely be a more exciting fight. Not sure who I will pick yet.

I'va been saying it for a while. The Millers are gonna be the next big thing in the UFC
