ProElite, Inc., parent company of Elite Xtreme Combat, is throwing in the towel on mixed martial arts.

Several sources spoke to said notifications had been sent out on Monday informing managers that the company was ceasing its fight promotion operations by the end of this week and it had begun the process of letting its employees go. One source even said that ProElite had already begun clearing out its corporate offices.

note to ufc... sign up their talent, most notably shields, lawler, villasenor, as much of a joke as the organization was run they had some talent.

this just made my day! i no it's bitter sweet because it makes it look like MMA isn't a marketable industry, but it is still good to know that the Slimebag Shaw's won't be poisoning the minds of the American public. let the professionals handle the growth of MMA, WAR DANA!!!

Cant see I didnt see it coming... Not too sad about it either, competition is good for MMA, but Elite wasnt it, and if anything they were putting a bad name on it. At least we'll get to see some of its top talent go to other promotions.

Qoute From EliteXC:

"We have informed all members of staff of Pro Elite that as of Friday the company known as ProElite, the website and the parent company to EliteXC will stop trading. In further purchases, ProElite acquired a number of companies, including MMA promotions King of the Cage, Cage Rage, Spirit M, and Icon. Rumble on the Rock, the promotion owned by JD Penn, brother of JD Penn was actually only leased to ProElite.

We have struggled through hard times hoping that the massive TV deal we had in place would of brought us in new investors. Unfortunately the TV deal and the investment went sour due to the main star being voted off by all his fellow competitors, we will continue running Fighting Hurts until the end but it has not been the saving grace that we thought it would be."

Dam.....I still wanted to see Gina vs Cyborg..... I geuss it wont happen. I hope the fighters end up finding a good home, whether it'll be UFC, Dream, Sengoku, Affliction, or Strikeforce. I wish them all well. Even KJ Noons...........though I still want him to get ktfo.

Damn....seems likes I am the only one. I love to watch free fights, even if they only had a few good fighter's within all the orgs they owned. I agree that some of the guys should definately consider the UFC, and UFC should consider some of the fighters mentioned earlier here. I didn't like Shaw's way of running things, but I liked watching all the fights. Now I am at the mercy of the UFC and the internet again!!

jae_1833 » Posted 7/19/07 11:27:00AM

Guys to take into the UFC....
Lawler, Villasenor, Shields, Diaz, and Alvarez...I am sure there is more. maybe the UFC should pick up Seth P just to rub salt in the wound!!

Naturaldisaster » Posted 4/8/07 4:17:00PM

Thank GOD! no more elite XC! I really hope ufc signs a bunch of their fighters.

as much as im glad shaw will be scratched from the mma world at this point, im kind of sad that an organization that made the big leap of getting a network tv deal, and an organization that had some real talent will no longer be around. they are taking a lot of good smaller companies that they acquired down with them too, and thats a shame. attencio doesnt seem like a jerk, and hes a realist when it comes to competing with the ufc so hopefully affliction can pull through and have some staying power. dream is looking rocky too now and suddenly almost every notable competitor with the ufc is going the way of the dodo, in a weird way i feel like the litter commercial indian. its more bittersweet than i thought it would be when this inevitable announcement came.

grappler0000 » Posted 3/24/07 5:29:00PM

I hope the fighters find good homes, but good riddance to the promotion.

Niaz is a joke , he is lucky to still be able to be the cornerman of his brother, he is not top 25 at any weight he can fight so screw him !!!

I agree about Shields and Lawler, should also consider Cavalcante and maybe some young good fighters to put in the WEC.

you want to step outside, man? haha

well at least i dont have to see my boy get beat by alverez........

back to the UFC PLEASE DANA...u know u want the diaz bros together

DustinT » Posted 7/17/07 4:29:00PM
