With the clock ticking for 160-pound champion KJ Noons' EliteXC-issued 5 p.m. PT deadline to sign a bout agreement to face Nick Diaz on an Oct. 4 CBS broadcast, the situation appears at an impasse.

Noons' manager Mark Dion today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) he is unconcerned with EliteXC Vice President Jared Shaw's demands.

i don't think that was much of a suprise. noons is ducking diaz, he is afraid and he knows the last time they fought he got lucky. noons is a joke, i hope diaz takes care of him if they ever fight. noons may have just taken over the reigns as my least favorite fighter of all time.

WAR DIAZ!!!!!!!!!

Yea seems like they are ducking Diaz at all costs. I do think Alvarez is the No.1 contender, but he'll be fighting for DREAM again probably for their title against Hansen. So either they take the Diaz fight, or wait a long time to get Alvarez, who IMO would mess him up worse than Diaz would.

if diaz isnt the #1 contender then idk who is that could fight as soon as diaz can. I guess kj wouldnt want to face krazy horse again because rematchs arent noons "thing"

KJ and his Manager need to sack up and take the fight. Especially because the contender that they think (what they think really doesn't matter much, just because you are the "champion" doesn't mean that you know everything about everything in your weight class...) isn't even available? WTF is this, ""I would think Eddie Alvarez is the No. 1 contender," Dion said. "He's definitely ranked higher than Nick Diaz. KJ already beat Nick Diaz." While Alvarez is currently unavailable due to taking personal time off, Dion does not feel that is reason to arrange a rematch with Diaz.

"Eddie Alvarez is getting married, but that's not our problem," Dion said. "People get married in five or 10 minutes.""

I think it is your problem now Dion. Personally i think Dion is just looking for a payday off KJ Noons and its one that most assuradly won't come as long as Noons doesn't fight Diaz... who is going to book or whats more try and market a fighter who won't even rematch a guy he "beat"...

who else would they take? if alvarez is out for a while, there aren't any lightweights worth the shot. the only other i could think of would be a cross promotion fight with josh thompson, but i don't know if strikeforce would want to do that. who else besides nick deserves it?

i say we start a petition for alvarez to postpone his wedding just so he can whomp on KJ!

Well, let's look back to 2003 when Tito was trying to hold the UFC belt hostage. It didn't work out too well for him...and KJ is a lot more expendable than Tito ever was. Noons may not realize this now, but companies kind of frown upon this sort of thing...good luck to him in the future once EliteXC folds.

Dion sounds more like a pimp than a manager.

Man... KJ and Dion are officially my least favorite people in the MMA world.
KJ is scared as hell. They are both afraid of the fact that they know that KJ will loose badly. He got seriously lucky on the last bout. Diaz is the #1 contender. He will take out just about whoever in his weight class..I hope they end up taking the belt away from him for eluding fights. He picks someone out who they know is unavailable (how convienent).

WAR DIAZ!!!!!!

I guess if Noons and managment did't want to fight the same fighters ovor and over again they should have tried to get signed by an org with depth to there roster like the UFC

But now its time to nut up and fight Diaz

If Diaz is not the #1 contender i would like to know who they think is....
