MMAcca » Posted 4/30/07 3:11:00PM

Conde Nast Portfolio does a quick synopsis of the IFL's recent announcement that it was going into suspended animation while trying to partner up. There were some interesting tidbits contained within the article. The IFL has been on the block but this article is the first to actually throw out a figure being asked for the company, $1 million.

If this is true then it'd be damn worth it. I'm not sure it's true, though.

Think about Zuffa or EliteXC adding to their ranks with names like Jay Hieron, Delson Heleno, and many, many more.

Im not sure any investor wants to assume the debt the IFL has.

The cost of their revenue was at about $18mill while their actual revenue was about at $6 million (FYE 2007).
I believe their total net income fye 2007 was listed at about 21 million in the hole.
Oh, and their stock is reported at about 2 cents a share.

Also, I doubt that the UFC would buy it because they probably are not in a demand to get any of the fighters contracts. They might want a couple of fighters, but I dont think the UFC wants to spend a lot to get little in return.

The UFC got IFL fighters Gerald Harris, Dante Rivera & Mike Dolce for TUF I'm pretty sure they can get any IFL fighter once their contract expires or if they want them enough wave an extra $10 in front of the IFL and they'll release any fighter. So why spend a million?

Because they'd be spending it on bigger names than the ones mentioned and on guys that are potentially locked in several years worth of contracts. Not to mention the video vault (which is the main reason for the Pride acquisition) and the rights to all products IFL. It's another step towards dominance of the MMA scene. With companies like EliteXC and Affliction knocking on the door it might not be a bad move. Look how much Affliction is already marketing Big Ben Rothwell.

Hmmm maybe I should scrounge up a million from under the sofa and take the IFL up on this offer.....

IFl screwed themselves over by putting on a confusing television program...I could never tell what was going on...as a result they lost me as a fan, and many others.
