"Ever notice that when a stellar collegiate wrestling star makes his transition into mixed martial arts, striking is never an issue in those formative months of development?

Learning jiu-jitsu can be a frustrating chore, figuring out that what worked on the wrestling mat may not work in the Octagon can be equally baffling, but when it comes to punching, elbowing, and kicking, that’s like being a kid who wakes up on his birthday and finds out he got a snow day off from school as well.

Heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez most certainly agrees."

For those of you who don't know who Cain Valasquez is, let me sum it up for you.

I've wrestled Jamie Varner, I won. I've Wrestled CB Dollaway; I won. I've wrestled Jesse Forbes, I won. I've wrestled Melvin Gulliard, I won. I've wrestled Anthony Johnson, I won. I've wrestled Tommy Spear, I won. I've wrestled Cain Valasquez, and I got my ass beat so hard I felt I was owed money afterwards.

Cain will be the champion in a year.

Champion in a year? Nah, I don't think they will give him enough fights for that to even be a possibility. They need to build him up properly since he's so inexperienced in MMA. I believe he's a badass too though and can't wait for his debut. He and Shane Carwin are great signings and could easily crack the top 10 in a year or two.

i've got him on my parlay

He is the next big thing in MMA....This guy is a straight up machine and will be a force. People are talkin about how the UFC's heavyweight division is going down hill but in less than 2 years they will have 3 of the most dominate fighters in the division....Lesnar, Carwin, and Valasquez....it's gonna be an awesome year for heavyweights.

crack the top ten? I don't even think the UFC has 10 HW's left

Just hearing him put in the same breathe as Lesnar being top ten makes me severly doubt his worth.

The UFC HW is so lame right now that anybody could become a "top" contender.

CB Dollaway is an awesome wrestler, he's on TUF 7.

Don't beliddle my acomplishments

Yea, I know, but they are very good. Cain just demolished me.

I started my college carrer at 165/174lbs (where I encountered Varner, Dollaway and Melvin), I moved up to 184 (where I encountered Tommy and Jesse). I'm now settled at 197/HWT (where Cain abd Bader decided to eat me alive)

Oh, and by Bader I mean Ryan Bader (7-0) will be on next season's TUF at 205lbs.

Bader's a badass from what I've heard. Right now he is training out of Arizona Combat with Varner, Dollaway, and Drew Fickett.
