puppetmaster837 » Posted 6/28/07 1:00:00AM

Former Palace Fighting Championship featherweight titleholder Shawn Bias (Pictures) awoke from his coma Tuesday morning and was lucid enough to speak with family and friends, Sherdog.com has confirmed.

The 22-year-old fighter suffered an apparent heart attack late Saturday night and lapsed into a coma around 1 a.m. Sunday morning. After being admitted to the Oroville General Intensive Care Unit, Bias was also diagnosed with complete kidney failure.

Bias, who was given a 30-percent chance of surviving by doctors, remains connected to a dialysis machine.

This is good news, after I heard everything that was wrong with him, I assumed that he wouldn't survive.... thats a true fighter there.

Very good sign indeed, hopefully his condition continues to improve.

100% agreed. Heard all this stuff about what was wrong with him, and he pulls out of it. Hopefully he gets better and nothing else goes wrong.

He's a true warrior! I hope he gets back to his best as quick as possible.

Did you guys read the article on him getting tazed and beat by the cops???

Man I don't know of this fighter but this is a tragic story....

Arrested right after he wakes up from his coma?!?!?!? Man that's harsh.

when i first heard of this story i though that their must be something else going on and i guess their was. funny how the friends always cast the guy as totally innocent. this is the scenario he describes. guy accidentally walks up to the wrong door or a party, says "excuse me wrong door", but at that point the party throwers just freak out and call the police. when the police get there he calmly walks outside to apoligize tot he officers for knocking on the wrong door and then takes off running for undisclosed reason and is tasered and beat for no reason.

hmm something tells me their is more to this story still....im not gonna speculate although i have some ideas....

either way, thank god it looks like he is gonna pull through because no matter what happened i dont want to see a 22 year old kid dying in that kind of a way.

Typical dumbass cops tasering people multiple times and beating them. Tasers I know are suppossed to be less than lethal but having a strong electrical current go through your body is not good, especially getting hit with it five times. No wonder he had a heart attack. I can understand lighting someone up if they are getting out of hand, but if anyone at my unit had used that kind of force they probably would have lost their quals.
