The latest MMAWeekly World MMA Rankings were released on Wednesday, September 12. This system ranks the top ten MMA fighters from all across the world in each of the six largest weight classes, as voted on by MMAWeekly.

We take into consideration a fighter's performance in addition to his win-loss record, head-to-head and common opponents, difficulty of opponents, and numerous other factors in what is the most comprehensive rankings system in the sport.

As always, fighters who are currently serving drug-related suspensions are not eligible for top ten consideration.

Rankings

Obviously I'm a little surprised that Mirko is still ranked in the top 10 for Heavyweights, and that Cheick Kongo didn't break into the rankings much like Gonzaga did after his win over Mirko.

solid for the most part, but no bj penn in either 170 or 155? that kind of bothers me.

Will someone please explain to me how the F#*$ tito ortiz is in the top ten in the world of anything except head size. That guy is the biggest chump around. He hasnt beat anyone except an over the hill shamrock and ufc's punching bag forest griffin in how many years?

I think that they haven't bothered to change them for ages. How can Fedor be number 1 HW with the fact he's been so inactive over at least the last 6 months? Randy clearly should be top. Mirko should have dropped heavily and as someone above here has said Cheick Kongo should be in there.

Same for the LHW Quinton should be top especially after the UFC 75 Victory. I take these rankings with a pinch of salt as they don't seem to truly reflect whats going on currently.

There are some things that I disagree with, but that will always be the case. But there is one thing that I can't ignore...if Serra is ranked #1 because he is the champ (which would be the only reason), then the same rules should apply to Rampage.

I'm happy to see my trainer Marcus Davis in the top 10. Awesome job Marcus keep proving the doubters wrong.

The HW rankings seem to be pulled out of a hat at random, "The Natural" without doubt should be #1 Barnett has no buisness in the top 5 let alone top 3 he has'nt even been active this year. Cro Cop has been man handled and beatin down this year which should slip him out of the top ten all together. Fedors little bro in the top 10? Beating eric pele and some dude with 2 fights under his belt dosnt justify a top ten ranking at the very least that should be Kongos spot. Lawler and Marquardt
should be ahead of Lindland and Kang.

6 Months is not a long time to be inactive. Shogun has been inactive for longer and he's still on the list as #1.

I agree their rankings seem to be a bit outdated. It almost seems like they are trying to keep as many old Pride fighters in the top ten as they can.
I think the rest of the MMA Weekly website is really good but they have to LET MIRKO GO.

CC has all the potential in the world but for now if he dosnt earn his keep in the HW division he should'nt get the credit VIA rankings that he does. He's not a can but he has to earn it!

why am i the only one that finds it odd that bj penn isn't on 170 or 155? he should be ranked in the top five in both, and number 2 in the lightweight behind gomi.

When was the last time BJ fought? I havent seen him do anything. I am not saying its a fact, just I havent seen him. If he was active and as good as he used to be, he should be somewhere on there. If he has been inactive for a year then he needs to fight and decide what weight class he is going to be in, THEN get rated.
