see what ESPN writer Ryan Hockensmith has to say about ufc 74. i personally disagree with some of them, especially the comments about kendal grove and roger huerta.

Huerta overrated? Kendall Grove a superstar? I guess I was watching a UFC 74 from a parallel universe.

1. Why shouldn't White be excited? He just the signed one of the biggest remaining names in the free market that will eventually set-up the long awaited Liddell/Silva contest.
2. This paragraph is full of contradictions.

Huerta has the ability to beat any 155-pounder on the planet.

Guys like BJ Penn or Sean Shirk would take him down and pound him right now

Huerta showed sound submission defense througout the fight. I think he risked getting caught in the later sub attempts because he felt Crane didnt have the strength left to pull them off.
3.

He's only 24 and looks to be getting better every day. At 6-foot-6 with arms that stretch an entire zip code, Grove is a matchup nightmare for other 185-pounders

Getting better everyday? Did the author even watch this fight? I didn't see Grove using those zip-code length arms to jab or use many kicks. The only thing he used his arms for was picking himself up after Cote stomped him. If he continues fighting like that he wouldnt stand up to Franklin/A. SIlva. He wouldn't be a matchup nightmare for some 170-pounders.
4. First off, there are only 4 people currently listed in the UFC Hall of Fame, and Hughes isn't one of them. Secondly, Koscheck- the second best welterweight in the UFC? No, he's not.
5.

Even as he approaches an age where he should be fighting off Bingo Night participants,

Cripes, he is 44 years old not 64, and so far has been in far better physical condition than each of his recent HW opponents. Yes, there will come a time when the body just wears down and doesnt respond, but Couture will know when that is long before anyone else does.
6. Finally something right, even though it is blatantly obvious even if you only watch 20 minutes of prime-time programming on Spike.
7. I can't stand the audience/celebrity shots and don't need celebrities (especially that shameless self-promoter Criss Angel), to validate my interest in UFC events.

i dont see how this guy has the nerve to say kendall grove is going to be a star after seeing him get knocked out by cote.....really?

a guy who is known as a submission specialist stands toe to toe with a kick boxer and gets knocked out in the first round and that makes you think he will be a star?

Maybe but coverage doesn't get any more mainstream than ESPN so that's cool.

"In September, middleweight champion Matt Serra will defend his belt against UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes. But UFC 74's undercard bout between former champ Georges St. Pierre and rising star Josh Koscheck was actually the matchup of the two best in the weight class."

That right there shows me how much this guy knows about the UFC.

I couldn't agree more... And it was no more evident when we saw him fight Crane on Sat... I started to feel bad for the guy (alberto) he looked so tired...

They need to fill that TBA spot against Frankie Edgar with Huerta

Koscheck wins against Hughes 9 times out of 10 and against Serra 99 times out of 100

GSP wins against Koscheck 9 times out of 10

You do the math
