Couture VS. Gonzaga
Couture does it again. That man is a monster, and I will never bet against him as long as he decides to do this. Check out that slam where he busted Gabe's nose, it was beautiful. Gotta go move Couture up in my ratings now... I do think Nog needs some more fights before challenging the champ. Wish the UFC would sign Josh, I would like to see Randy try to avenge a loss.

Couture is the man. I hate to say that I'm one of the many that crashed and burned on the Gonzaga band wagon. I still think he's a good fighter but damn Randy took it to him. Awesome performance by Couture.

Randy proved we shoulden't doubt him, he also proved that gg's win over Mirko was a fluke. I'm so happy randy won. The UFC's plan is for the winner of Mirko vs. kongo to fight big nog for the #1 contender. So I'm really hoping we see a big nog Mirko rematch and then get to see randy and Mirko fight. Or maybe the UFC will get Fedor and then right theres his next title defense.

Damn, your nuthugging is getting ridiculous. How did this fight prove that Gonzaga´s destruction of Mirko was a fluke? Gonzaga DOMINATED CC. Accept it!.
Just like I have to accept that I got owned badly this event. Randy ALWAYS proves me wrong but I always get the gut feeling that this is the end of the road for him but nooooo, he goes out there and takes all my money away. My gut sucks.

I think quite a few people would agree with me acctually. When Mirko lost to fedor, he was beat by the better fighter, if Mirko or anyone else loses and they are beaten by a better fighter I'll be the first to say it. Do you think that Serra's a better fighter then GSP? Please man if you want to call me out and be an ass do it in a PM. I honestly believe that gg won't beat another top 5 in his career, he got an uninspired unprepared Mirko and threw a lucky kick, he'll never land another one like it in his career. Sorry your bandwagon blew up, I'm sure there will be room on the Vera one you can hop on it.

If I'm being an ass so be it but I don't see how that dominating performance was a fluke. It's not like the kick was the only thing he landed in that fight. He took CC down, smashed him up with elbows, got stood up for no reason and set up the fight ending high-kick with great low kicks.
I just think it's stupid not to appreciate the skill and effort GG put in to beat such a great fighter as CC. I'm not on any bandwagon really, I just thought Gonzaga would beat Couture just like I think Nogueira would beat Gonzaga....
I agree with you in that I don't think Gonzaga will be that special but Gonzaga - Mirko was a clear case of a really bad match-up for Mirko. It doesn't mean Gonzaga can beat everybody that Mirko's beaten cuz fighting is no simple math like that, it just means that it was a great stylistic match-up for Gonzaga and he won that fight fair and square.

Simply put cmill is wrong and Stickan is right. Gonzaga VS CroCop was no fluke, that kick that ended the fight was the whipped cream on top of the pie of dominance that Gonzaga made. If round two had happened it would see a dizzy Mirko getting taken down and finished. Gabe executed his game plan perfectly:
1: Catch kick and get to on top to work elbows. 2: Circle and wait for my shot since the round is closing, but no biggy if it doesn't land, just repeat 1 in round 2.
Gabe knew the tools he had and used them in his planning, that's why he won. Same reason Randy just won against Gabe.

I think had he won on the ground it woulden't have been a fluke. It was the way he won that made it a fluke, we saw last night that he can't throw that kick consistantly, he hit randy and it barly made a noise. If you do something you can't repeat, thats a fluke.
