Rohit Verma had a chance to talk to Cheick Kongo before his upcoming fight against Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic at UFC 75 in London, England.
Kongo holds a professional MMA record of 10-3-1, including wins over Joop Kasteel and Assuerio Silva. The French heavyweight is known for his striking, specifically his knees from the clinch.
nokaut interview with kongo

... Nokaut.com: Looking at the guys Mirko is possibly bringing in to train with, it could mean "Cro Cop" wants to take the fight to the floor. How is your ground game coming into this fight?
wow..this guy must be crazy , mirko wanting to take the fight to the ground??? haha....he brings the best strikers to train with him and has said many times that is trainin 80 on standup and 20 ground......this guy has to do some research be4 he says crazy things....the only reason cro cop will go to the ground is to finish the fight after he drops kongo

I don't think Kongo has the impression that the fight will go to the ground. The interviewer was a complete idiot though. He asked how long Kongo would continue training... that's a retarded question right there.

Kongo needs a PR guy or somethin. His interview skills are on par with the average 5th grader.

I don't think it would be that bad of an idea for Cro Cop to take the fight to the ground at some point. He doesn't need to with his striking ability, but Kongo has proved to be very poor on the ground. If Cro Cop could get himself into a controlling position, it would be nice to see if he could add some ground and pound to his game. His kicks and punches are some of the most powerfull in the world, imagine if/when he adds some elbows to his arsenal. Against a guy who really isn't dangerous on the ground, Kongo might not be the worst guy for Cro Cop to test the waters with a take down. I'm not saying he will, or that he should, but I don't think it's as crazy an idea as some may think.

If he does take kongo down, watch the herring fight, he has some great ground and pound, wand, barny, ect. can attest to this. I don't really care what Mirko does as long as he wins convincingly.

Kongo has been obviously misinformed. You don't get a title shot by ending up in a highlight reel.

Gonzaga would submit him in the first round, Randy would ground and pound him in the first round. Both specialize in ground fighting which is Kongos worst aspect

Kongo is wanting the winner of this fight yet he couldn't finish Carmelo Marrero, in fact he lost .
Gonzaga would punish Kongo with ease. So would Couture. Couture is a level higher than Marrero at wrestling he would spank Kongo and wouldn't have to even train.
Crocop is going to run this fool. Kongo thinking he deserves the winner lmao. Arlovski is next in line I heard if he beats Vera.

Kongo should worry about a crocop the ufc hasn't seen yet. Not worry about his next possible fight. Getting koed the way he did will wake cro cop up i believe. He is going to mega pissed and training with a purpose and a deep focus. My prediction is that Kongo goes to sleep at some point in the the late 1st round or early 2nd round.

I think that Congo needs to worry about the extremely hard task of beat mirko first. He is basicly overlooking a guy who could take his head off with a kick or a punch. Cro Cop is a guy that you cant look past, it boggles my mind to think that he has!!!!!!!!!!!!
