With a win over Kurt Pellegrino at UFC 74: “Respect” on August 25, season two welterweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), Joe Stevenson, could find himself fighting BJ Penn for the vacant 155-pound title later this year, according to a recent Yahoo!Sports article.

Sadly, BJ outclasses Stevenson in pretty every aspect of MMA. Stevenson is also not known for an amazing cardio so it is not like he could outwork Penn.
On paper, Joe does not really stand a chance against BJ.

That is a tough one to call. It all depends on if BJ takes his conditioning seriously too. It will be a great fight to watch either way but I am leaning more towards BJ because of his experience but Joe Stevenson is no joke.

Originally, I was going to say....
There is only one fight in BJ's career, that he couldn't of won... the Jens Pulver fight, is the only fight I would say that he lost because he wasn't the better fighter, that night. The only other fight would be the GSP fight, but that is debatable. GSP is a great talent. He could of beat Matt Hughes if he trained properly.
Now, I realize if I said that, I'd somewhat be a hypocrite and an idiot. I don't believe BJ could've beat Ryota Machida, GSP is a great fighter, but I think he coulda beat him, and Matt Hughes, well Matt Hughes probably shouldn't of beat him the second time, but he did, I wanted him to, too.
BJ is a great fighter is what I was gettin' at and if BJ trains right, he'll dominate Joe, simply put.

Joe Stevenson would get destroyed by BJ Penn. What Dana needs to do is give his head a shake and sign Gomi. Get Melendez, Aoki and Sakurai. Stevenson would get beat by all of them. Those are real LWs.

I say you give the chance to Ken Flo if Sherk is stripped because Sherk was cheating during that fight also, I not Ken-flo then I think getting Aoki or some other outside fighter would makemore sense, look at stevenson's opps, Pellegrino, Mishima and Guillard and I am not certain he will beat Pelegrino. I do not have confidence in Ken Flo either but he should get the shot back if he was defeated unfairly.

I like joe a lot but i think he has very little chance of beating BJ. I'd rather see BJ & Sherk but either way I'll be watching. Honestly though...let's have Kenflo & BJ fight first and the winner fights Sean. BJ needs more fights. He so good that he only fights the best but I think it'd be his best interest to start taking more fights.
Dana says he believes Sean and Dana's never hesitated to blast fighters in the media when he things they aren't being honest or for whatever other reason he feels like trashking them in the public eye.....we'll see.

Actually Dana should just sign Diaz again so he can smoke all of them.
