So what do you guys think should be worked most in weight training to make a good mma fighter, i know it matters kind of what style your going off of but say the part and then the style. I think back is most needed on the ground, matt hughes always says a lot of his workout are for his back.

I'd actually say grip is most important. You can defend damn near any sub if you've got a good grip, and a good grip helps tremendously with submissions, especially when dudes are getting sweaty.

grip is def. important as well as legs since leg kicks take a lot out of a fighter whether throwing them or recieving them. Plus you need good footwork, legs are nessecary for guard and submissions on the ground therefore legs need to be strong.

Grip is important, but Abs and core muscles are important also.

Legs obviously are essential for striking, as punching power comes from the legs and core muscles, strength in grapping comes from the legs and core muscles.

Basically, Legs and core muscles are the most important imo. After that, Arms, chest and back for striking power and more grappling power, and neck muscles too, to stabilise your head.

I'd say neck for safety reasons, then back and abs for core. Punches and kicks get power from core and hip rotation, not the actual muscles in the legs and arms/shoulders. If that was the case, Sapp and Waterman would be the best strikers, not a guy like Anderson (the "stick") silva. CC just has freakish legs, so he's an exception.

Abs because if your a wrestler or Judo fighter you need to have core strength to preform throws and slams

sure its the legs but its an unfair comparison because its got more than one muscle compared to the other choice like bicep , tricep , chess

I would say your heart, because all the strength in the world can't help you if you have no gas tank.

Yes, the heart. Take away your heart and no mma fighter will do well.

Also, I think Tito would have a tough time fighting without his tongue.

i say abs, u need core strength to take ur opponents down, and hold them there... and grip like everyone else is saying as well, the more grip the easier to perform submissions
