Spencer Fisher has withdrawn from his upcoming lighweight bout with Din Thomas at UFC Fight Night 11 on September 19 because of a staph infection, according to a recent MySpace message from “The King.”

This is the sort of stuff that makes me want to quit grappling. how many cases of ring worm, staph, or some other nasty skin stuff have taken place in an average bjj gym??? it seems prevalent in the ones ive seen, and at competitions ive seen guys compete w/ nasty shit growing on them. it sucks cause its in the back of your mind when your training.

Yeah, when I was wrestling in high school every wrestler on our squad had ringworm by the end of the season. We even mopped the mats with bleach after every practice. Some of these guys even had several spots of ringworm on them. The stuff spreads like wildfire. I ended up getting ringworm on the side of my knee right at the end of the season. That pissed me off needless to say. Also, I've had Staph before and that is no joke. I was extremely drained by the infection.

damn that really does suck. that was going to be a very good fight. i was going to say that florian should take his place, and then i just looked on the 'fantasy picks' page and that is exactly what they did. florian/thomas might end up being a better fight than fisher/thomas. nice!!
