Come on, its hard work hitting a guy that many times! I'd be tired too!

At last he din't go Shamrock/Fujita and just give up when he couln't stop the guy. I still can't beleive that happened.

He broke his hand on Fujitas cement skull. If you watch when he taps, he looks at the ref and lifts his right hand, saying its broken. Kens prone to broken hands from the gloveless early UFC days.

if you break a hand it grows back harder and stronger, not to be a jerk or anything, but fujitas head is just a rock

I've never heard that one before. I'm not doctor, but typically when you break bones, that bone is never 100%. I broke my leg in a fight about two years ago and it still hurts to this day when I jog. If you have the bones in the hand set, I can see it minimizing the chance of breakage again, but I can't see it making the hand stronger.

not to continue an arguement, cuz you're a good poster, but the standard martial arts brick breaker gets his hands calcified, and essentially stronger thicker bones from doing continuous damage to them by breaking things, great martial arts show on A&E or Nat Geo or something covered it, can't remember the name though

Feel free to argue with me all you want bro. I'm here for the good discussions after all.

What traditional martial artists do is impact their hands repeatedly against hard surfaces, which compacts the bone over time and eventually calicifies the bone, making it hard as stone. A "soft" method of doing this is repeatedly slapping into a bucket of water, which does the same thing, but over the course of years, as opposed to months. Muay Thai guys work a similar method with their shins, where they strike hard surfaces until the nerves are dead and the bone has calcified.

Thats a different kind of "break" though, as its creating microscopic fissures in the bone that fill in with calcium deposits and become extremely hard. Literally breaking your hand, as in having the bone snap in half, is not the same thing. If it sets correctly, it will heal just fine, but it certainly won't be stronger, and I'm willing to bet Kens right hand never set correctly.

You've gotta remember he came from a Pancrase background, which doesn't allow closed hand strikes, so punching in NHB combat was new to him, and he ended up breaking his hand at least twice that I can remember. The old UFCs were full of broken hands, which is why they'd have so many alternates.

Couture Vs Tito has got to be the longest one of that magnitude. Sherk vs FLorian as well but people excpeted that to happen. Everyone thought that tito was gonan GNP randy out but it was the other way around.

I've never heard that excuse before. I've heard Ken was nauseous from a low blow. Mainly I've just heard it was a lack of heart on Ken's part (which has always been my opinion of it). Ken's never been short of excuses before, if this was the case i think I'd have heard it from his lips by now.

Rumor was he had a heart murmor or something and thought he was having a heart attack. Could've been spin though.

If I thought I was having a heart attack, I wouldve verbally submitted instead of yelling to my corner for 30+ seconds to throw in the towel!

I'll throw in the DVD in a minute and get back to you. I could be mistaken because I've only seen it once.

Ok, just watched the fight again. He does receive a light knee to the groin a few minutes before he quits, but it wasn't that bad. As for my hand theory, he was actually asking the corner to throw in the towel and gesturing with the hand, because some of his cornermen refused to throw it in. I thought he was talking to the ref.

I think it was pure exhaustion. He threw a lot of punches and was clearly winded even before the groin hit. I guess Ken only knows though.
