I'm not going to go through all these replies, but has anyone yet called into question the validity of this link?

Because it also states that Ninja is going to defend his EliteXC title against Robbie Lawler on Sept 15, a night on which Lawler is already contractually confirmed to be defending his ICON title in Hawaii.

Which calls the whole thing into serious question.

Its the only way to make Shogun known among the majority of ufc only fans while keeping Chuck on top for the next title shot, its such a joke that they are both fighting on this card against weak opponents!!!

UFC matchmaking at its worst!!!

I give much respect to Forrest for taking this fight. I am sure he knows what he is getting into. He accepted a fight at a critical time in his career against one of the very best fighters at light heavyweight. Not everyone would do that, so win or lose I think we need to show Forrest some respect for taking the fight.

Um. Yeah.....he is talking about their debut fights in the ufc, and of the people he listed, CC was the only one to finish his first ufc fight in the first round.

Jackson blew Liddell out in the 1st round of his second ufc fight. His first was Eastman and that was ended in the second round.

Herring lost against O'Brien, and Big Nog went to the judges.

However his statement is actually still technically wrong.

Silva KTFO of Leben in the first.

Anyhow, if the fight really is Shogun and Forrest now instead of Machida, I'm officially bummed the **** out. I was really looking forward to Rua x Machida...

I can't say I've EVER looked forward to any of Forrest's fights.

I'd throw Forrest in with Chuck and keep the Machida/Rua fight. seems smarter from a business standpoint imo. You have two hype-machines (pulling far more attention than what they'd pull in seperate fights) . That fight would be pure ******* money.

and two "no-names"(from the viewpoint of the casual ufc fan who has lived under a rock for the last 10 years) who would *probably* put on a fight that would be in contention for "fight of the year". Would be a great name-building fight for both of them.

Shogun-Machida would've been a much better fight, but either way Shogun's going to win. Griffin will be done in the 1st round.

Forrest isnt a pushover...this isnt going to be an easy fight for Shogun, i dont know why all you guys think that hes just gunna go in the ring and kill Forrest.

Its gunna be hard for Forrest, but it wont be easy fro Shogun
