The point MMA became mainstream is a matter of debate, but could date to 2011 when the UFC and FOX signed a seven-year television deal, worth approximately $120 million per year by the end. Now it’s 2018, the deal is up, and the UFC reportedly wanted $300-400 million per year.

FOX balked, perhaps because viewership is down. Big FOX shows are down 22% compared to the year before, while Fight Night events are down 17%. However, Andrew Wallenstein and Daniel Holloway report for Variety that rivals ESPN and FOX have teamed up in a joint bid for UFC television rights, that could bring as many as 15 fight events to the ESPN+ subscription streaming service.

Hope this falls through hard. All this does is take value away from Fightpass and make it so we have to find a stream as with the PPVs. I already have monthly fees for FP, VPN, Netflix, Prime, and Moviepass. I'm not adding another entertainment expense, even if it's only $5/month.

Forgot about xbox live and PS4 memberships, I'd throw phone and internet in there, but those are necessities.

Yeah i didn't read all the details but another monthly fee is not on my agenda. Throwing in halves on PPV's or b-dubs is cool but then you spend another 30-40 alone at b-dubs.

The move to ESPN would be HUGE for the movement towards ‘mainstream’ sports status. I personally could care less about the $5-$10 monthly subscription.

I'm guessing in Canada, it'll probably stay on TSN. We might not have to pay any extra fee. But if we do, I'll pay it.
