The UFC is working on an interim UFC welterweight title bout between dos Anjos and Colby Covington (13-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) for UFC 224, which takes place May 12 at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, per a report from BJPenn.com. The event’s main card airs live on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
note: ummm okay, duno why there needs to be a interim title when Woodley isn't injured..lets just water down the belt some mo why dont we LOL

Covington in Brasil. Surely some good TV to be had here, lol. Hopefully nothing bad happens.

Brazilians are crazy...legit there would be some of them that would want to bring pain to Colby. I guess he'll just do what he did last time and not leave the hotel for anything

Colby's racist hype train is getting derailed by a Brazilian fireplug implacably parking in the middle of the tracks, lobbing straight lefts and leg kicks all night.
...unless he trains uppercuts

Colby to me is trying so hard to be Chael Sonnen 2.0 and he falls flat 99% of the time for me. He's not nearly as intelligent or as witty as he likes to think he is. I want to see him lose and lose badly here. Not because he's the heel that he hopes to be but because he's annoying and painfully unfunny. He's also not all that interesting to watch fight honestly.

Am I missing something? Is Woodley injured? Why is this an interim title fight? If this is being made because Woodley doesn't want to fight then they should just strip him indefinitely and this should be a legit title fight. Till vs Thompson would make a lot of sense now with winner getting winner of RDA vs the guy who will be murdered in the forvellas on May 12th.

whyyyyyyyyyyyyy an interim belt???? Woodley said he would be back ready to fight by July.....just make it a number 1 contender fight.
And Woodley is injured, his shoulder.....he's been getting stem cell and prp injections.....he said he has 1 round left to go.

I don’t mind the interim belt for 3 primary reasons. 1. With certain athletes (Woodley included) they’re likely to lie about return dates and injury status depending on what opponent it is. Something tells me for RDA he won’t be ready till August or early September and for let’s say Gsp or Nate I’m sure he would be ready to go by July. I feel like I don’t want champions holding up divisions the way Conor and T.J. have been waiting for certain opportunities. 2. Woodly will be able to get more recovery time and not rush back since I’m sure he wouldn’t be able to fight the winner till October or September so he will be 100% for sure. 3 Woodly has been very vocal about wanting to make more money based off buys and I’m sure the exposure of RDA and Colby will add a few more eyeballs to the eventual fight against Tyron. I’m sure with a lame champ vs champ match he would be able to get a few more buys added on to his champion ppv points and after woodlys last two fights he’s going to need any extra help he can get to entice viewers to watch him again.

Oh I definitely think Covington can give RDA fits. He's not as skilled in the stand up but he is improving in the area and he does have power. He could steal rounds with his wrestling and also he has a high pace, cardio and the size to also give RDA problems. I think the deciding factor is this fight is in Brazil and the fans will target him and make him feel miserable.
I'm slightly leaning Covington too but he could get sloppy in the later rounds and leave his neck out somewhere...RDA's ground game is always underrated as is his grappling in general.

Damn, I'm surprised by all the love the guy who got pieced up in the standing department by Maia is getting. Do I need to create an Oprah "you get an av bet, you get an av bet!" Meme?

Looks like it'll be RDA vs. Covington (in Rio), Till vs. Wonderboy (in Liverpool) and Ponz vs. Magny (in Chile).
Edit: nvm, Ponz vs. Usman. I like that even better!
