UFC officials today announced the bout between Barberena (13-5 MMA, 4-3 UFC) and Ellenberger (31-13 MMA, 10-9 UFC).

UFC Fight Night 131 will take place June 1 at Adirondack Bank Center in Utica. The card is expected to air on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

How is Ellenberger still employed?

I like this match up. Ellenberger is probably better in every single area except Barbarena can probably take anything he gives him and keep coming

Ellenberger excels like a lot of kickboxers (which seems weird at first since he rarely kicks) - if his opponent hangs at midrange and gives him time to set up, he'll drop a bomb on someone's noggin. While he has good power in close, he tends to fade against pressure fighters. Barbarena will probably do that.

All Ellenberger needs is one bomb. Dude still hits like a train. I just don't know if he'll land one clean enough to take the fight.
