ok but here is the thing guys. I have fought myself (not pro) and lemme tell you something, fighting someone even 5Lbs. heavier than you is a HUGE difference. So for the 53 ,170Lbs. fighters in the UFC might have a chance if they go up 10 Lbs. No one under 180Lbs. will beat Silva!

I'm confused. Are you saying that some of the UFC's Middleweights should be fighting at 170 lbs? Or are you saying that some of the UFC's Welterweights should be fighting at 185 lbs? Either way, I don't agree.

Mike Swick has admitted that he can't quite keep up with the other Middleweights, and is thinking about moving to Welterweight (although his match with Chris Leben might be at 185). I can't think of any other Middleweights that I think could cut to 170. Silva, Franklin, Okami, Martin, MacDonald, and Grove could probably all fight at 205 if they wanted to. I don't think any of them could cut to 170. Maybe Ed Herman.

As for the Welterweights, I think Matt Hughes and GSP could fight at 185, but that's because they're so good, not because they're so big. For the most part, guys find success at the lowest weight they can make. It's possible that a really skinny guy like Kendall Grove or Corey Hill would benefit from a few added pounds. It's also possible that a guy might fare better at a higher weight class just because he matches up better with the guys who happen to be in that division at the moment (such as Randy Couture, who seems better at Heavyweight right now than he would be at Light-Heavyweight - the jury is still out on Matt Serra).

Right now, I can't think of a single Welterweight who would be better off at 185.

Heck no! Leave my Welterweight division alone!

Actually, Matt Hughes has said that if Anderson Silva defeats Rich Franklin a second time, he might move up to 185. Presumably Hughes would have to lose to Serra, in addition to Franklin losing to Silva, for this to happen.

The Welterweight div is fine the way it is. Guys aren't just going to move up because 185 is a bit weak right now. It's not easy to move up a division, and I can't think of anyone who would make a smooth transition, that it makes sense for. GSP, and Matt Hughes are two guys who come to mind that I think could do it, But why would they? It might make sense for Hughes if he loses to either Serra(haha) or GSP again. But Still I have trouble seeing him beat guys like Okami, Franklin, Silva, etc. Also People need to Stop worring about the middle weight Division, it's going to be fine. The heavy weight div. was "in trouble" only a few month ago, and now it's as good as ever, and only getting better. There are alot of solid fighter on there way up, just be patient.

There are too many XLbs. whiners in the MMA community.

When UFC is shaping up to be the best, everybody still needs something to complain about? There is absolutely nothing to complain about when it comes to the 170lbs division.

Anderson SIlva is not a big MW maybe tall but he could drop down to 170 but why if Hughes is comming up to get knocked out right after he kills Franklin one more time
Mann Hughes is some friend to move up and get beat up to show his friend that its all right to lose to Anderson Silva

The sport is about the fights and the fighters. The divisions/promoters are secondary. The more the merrier.
